2U is mentioned in the article as the online program management partner/platform USC uses.
1) misrepresenting the online program and equating it to the on-campus program.
2) targeting minorities and pushing them into "massive" student debt.
Students should really investigate the program before they get started.

2U bought edx as recently as two years ago, they have some issues but still, it's the students responsibility. Do you think their online version and the butt-in-seat content is much different that would lead to a major disadvantage? Yes and No, if the student does well (regardless of the program), it shouldn't be much of a problem, no one is forcing them into debt!

USC seems like a highly ranked private/research institution, 2U might not be a great partner though...

USC is one of the more prestigious universities in the world.  Or, they used to be.  Between the admissions scandal (think Lori Loughlin) and these shenanigans with the social work program (and another I think), they're killing their brand.

I feel bad for students caught in predatory school loans but there comes a time where the students need to take responsibility. In what world does $100K seem remotely worth it for a low paying career? Social work is probably like nursing....the school name or rank is irrelevant if you have the education to sit for whatever legal boards you need to work. But shame on USC for this. The school seems like a hot mess of a choice unless you already come from that Full House type of dough Smile . The University of Spoiled Children moniker I heard may bear some credibility with all their scandals of late.

Agreed - there is no way that this degree is worth $100k.  There aren't enough "connections" in the world to make it so - I don't care who you are and who you know.  You cannot parlay this degree into a well-paying career.
