ProctorU moving to new 'Guardian Browser' system - jch - 04-01-2023

As part of ProctorU's integration into Meazure Learning, our favorite online proctoring service is migrating from its browser plugin to a dedicated secure browser program called 'Guardian Browser'. Hopefully, this new way of doing things will be an upgrade from the previous janky combination of browser plugins, scripts, and LogMeIn Rescue. However, it appears they're still using LogMeIn for proctor chat (really, they couldn't implement their own webchat?  Rolleyes ).
Reportedly, this transition will take place from January through July 2023. I haven't seen any mention of it here, so it appears that none of the institutions in our space have made the switch yet.

I'm not certain I understand what you're saying.  The institutions that use ProctorU won't make any sort of switch - just the ProctorU system itself.  Why would any of the institutions do/say anything?

Instead of using the browser extension, test-takers will have to download and install the new program and use a somewhat different exam launch flow.

Still not understanding how this impacts the institutions.  I took exams through ProctorU for multiple institutions, and none of them had anything to do with this.

TESU is now using the Guardian Browser system for all online exams
TESU Email Wrote:New Proctoring Experience Coming Soon

Thomas Edison State University is pleased to announce that we will be moving away from the Proctor U Google Extension for Online Proctoring and now using the Guardian Web Browser as of May 1, 2023. This will not impact any previously scheduled exam sessions and the scheduling process will remain unchanged. The Guardian Browser will need to be downloaded for all sessions after May 1, 2023. The Guardian Browser will improve start up time for exams as well as provide an easier connection to Proctor U.

Please view the FAQ Page from Proctor U.

Any questions about the new Guardian Web Browser can be directed to testing@tesu.edu.
