How do alt credits display on TESU transcript? - CanICode - 03-05-2023

Do they show what college or source they are from or just that you received credit? Does anyone have an image of one? I have searched the forum and google and cannot seem to track down a definitive answer or the policy has changed over time so there are mixed answers.

There's a heading "Transfer Credits" which then has a subheading for each school you transfer credits in from, name of course from that school, and the credits (but not the grades) earned.

Then there's a heading for "assessment credits" and subheadings are things like "TESU-ACE", "TESU-NCCRS, and TESU-CLEP".  Under each of those subheadings is the name of the course, the number of credits earned, and a grade of "CR". In my case, I earned my credits from Study.com, which included both NCCRS and ACE credits, but the transcript does not show where the credits were earned, only that they are ACE credits.

Interestingly, in my transcript, several of my CLEP credits came in under TESU-ACE, while others came in under TESU-CLEP. No idea why.

The credits taken at TESU itself are listed under the heading "Institutional Credits" and include course name, credits, and letter grade earned.

Also interestingly, the transcript shows my full social security number, but only the month and day of my birthday.

Here's a picture of my transcript after my first bachelor's.

studyingfortests is correct. Lists the name of other schools, or ACE/NCCRS, but not the names of ACE/NCCRS provider.

TESU-ACE will include Study.com, Sophia, CMSlearn, Salyor SL, etc

Study.com you send directly from Study.com to TESU. Others you only send in the Credly.

Okay so I have 4-5 classes I will be doing through tel learning and I am concerned about having Mid America Christian University on my transcript. I do not want any sort of discrimination against myself for having that on my transcript. I guess I will need to look into other transcription options.

You should know that grad schools (and maybe others) are going to want the transcript directly from Mid America, so it wouldn't matter how the school you transfer them into lists them.

I'm not really trying to minimize your concerns, they may be quite legitimate. However, you should know that very few people will EVER look at your transcript, and most of those won't scrutinze it down to the last course. The list of places that will need a transcript is pretty much, grad schools you apply to, licensing boards (like for a CPA), and maybe a very rare employer or government program (not really likely). You are going to be identified much more with the school that issued your degree. If someone ever does question it, I'd just say that I was on a budget and the courses were inexpensive.

There are tons of Liberty, BYU and Oral Roberts grads that are having no problem with their careers either academic or professional.

None of the grad schools I applied to, more than half a dozen - in a range of programs, ever asked for more than my TESU transcript. All my credits were transferred in (expect the TESU required), and I did get accepted to all that I applied. With that said, davewill's point is valid as it is highly unlikely anyone will care that there are a few courses from 'Mid America Christian University' (or any other RA school - no matter if it be a religious, for-profit, non-profit, etc). One thing is certain however, if you do ever have to provide a transcript to confirm you earned your bachelor for TESU (or any other school) it will be that school's transcript they'll want.

CanICode - Is there something about Mid America Christian University that could be discriminatory for your goals that I'm missing?

Why? I can't say I've ever had to provide a copy of my transcripts for a job. I have for other colleges, but none have discriminated because of which school my credits came from.

FWIW, I work in the public sector and I have to provide transcripts upon request and I've been disqualified from jobs for not providing them in the application package (even when it didn't specifically ask in the announcement). I've never heard of discrimination for attending religious schools in my line of work though. It is a lawsuit no one wants to even take a chance on.
