What is UMPI's major malfunction? - cerich67 - 10-18-2022 My wife enrolled in UMPI 2 months ago for the upcoming term. They gave her a log in then her advisor made multiple appointments for a phone call that they then never made. This went on for over a month with my wife calling and emailing to try and have the converstaion. Finally it happened and the advisor told my wife late last week it was too late for my wife to take any classes at UMPI because the deadline to do the credit evualuations had passed, except of course the advisor never gave her any deadline date, never called to go over them and so forth. Yes, my wife had her credits from CC and Sophia sent to them. The advisor on the call was very dismissive of the delay and just told my wife to "do it next year". Sure, except my wife literally had planned to do this term because changing jobs and put the delay in to work on UMPI. She is pretty upset, and so am I frankly. Her advisor is not the Jessica spoken about on here so much, and my wife has even tried emailing her for the last two weeks and leaving messages and nothing, complete radio silence. Incredibly bad customer service. Any advice would be appreciated. RE: What is UMPI's major malfunction? - ashkir - 10-18-2022 This sounds like a mess. I recommend reaching out directly to Dr. Susan Chang. https://www.umpi.edu/campus-directory/dr-susan-chang/ Dr. Chang is in charge of the entire program, and, can get things cleared up with a high urgency. RE: What is UMPI's major malfunction? - bjcheung77 - 10-18-2022 And this sound like your wife was speaking with an Enrollment Specialist that works for a marketing/sales funnel, not and advising staff that works for the school. Yes, reach out to the person mentioned above, classes start Oct 24, you may be able to get into the program if they have your credits already evaluated properly. They may make exceptions or expedite your request, doing something is better than waiting... good luck! The problem is they haven't evualated the credits, they haven't done a thing except give her a log in, schedule appointments to talk where they never call and won't answer phone when my wife tries to call 10 mins after they were suppossed to call her. Don't answer emails = and then when she finally gets the person on the phone is told "too late, you can't register for any classes because nothing has been evualated by the deadline". A deadline my wife wasn't told about and can't even get an answer if they have her transcripts she had sent over a month ago. It's maddening RE: What is UMPI's major malfunction? - Jennr2z - 10-18-2022 (10-18-2022, 11:55 AM)Ncerich67 Wrote:This is really to bad. This wasn’t the experience that I have had at UMPI. I will say that the initial contact is a 3rd party person that poses as an “advisor” to UMPI, but they have very little knowledge of the program. They are salespeople basically. Like Ashkir posted, contact the Dean. Also, email umpireg@maine.edu this is the email for the registrar office so you should check on why the transcripts have been sitting for so long.(10-18-2022, 11:12 AM)bjcheung77 Wrote: And this sound like your wife was speaking with an Enrollment Specialist that works for a marketing/sales funnel, not and advising staff that works for the school. RE: What is UMPI's major malfunction? - bjcheung77 - 10-18-2022 OP isn't the only one having issues with contacting UMPI, hopefully by contacting Jessica or Susan, you should have your issue resolved by now... One of the members here (mcquacks) also had issues signing up their son for the UMPI Your Pace program. Earlier today, I responded back to her on the Yahoo groups with the two contacts (links), 1.5 hours later, it should have been resolved. Has she officially been accepted into UMPI? Jessica doesn't typically reach out until you've been accepted which means credits are being evaluated or already have been evaluated. It sounds like she's been speaking to an enrollment specialist. They're useless. They're like used car salespeople. The application deadline is on the YourPace website. That's definitely something to pay attention. Have you reached to the actual admissions office? They should fire them. They're a hired third party who knows NOTHING about the program. They're so annoying to deal with. It's maddening My wife applied in August, UMPI has done NOTHING except give her a log in and dodge calls and emails, including Jessica. So, what exactly do you mean when you assert that deadlines should be paid attention to? UMPI doesn't care obviously. Jessica responded yesterday to my wife with basically "so sad, so bad, and I see you emailed the director so I'm out". You can defend with "it's enrollment specialists" but UMPI hires them and the yourpace folks like you said won't talk to you until enrollment specialist is done, and if enrollment specialist doesn't do their job, then too darn bad. For over a month my wife tried calling every second day, emailing multiple times a week. Their apply by deadline is BS if they can't meet their deadlines RE: What is UMPI's major malfunction? - ss20ts - 10-19-2022 (10-19-2022, 04:13 AM)cerich67 Wrote: My wife applied in August, UMPI has done NOTHING except give her a log in and dodge calls and emails, including Jessica. If you read what I wrote, I most certainly did NOT defend the enrollment specialists. I said they should be fired and how awful they are. I purposely didn't talk to the enrollment specialists because they were useless and didn't know anything about YourPace. You don't need them for anything. Once someone goes over Jessica's head then yeah you have to work with the director. Is it possible that the U of M system hasn't received all of the transcripts? It does take a few weeks for them to be processed that is why I said it's important to pay attention to the deadlines on the YourPace website. Who is your wife calling? I asked before and you didn't say who. I ask because we may have been able to direct her to the appropriate person. They have all the transcripts, she heard back from the director today with "sorry, you are welcome to reapply next term" Guess is what it is, looking at a pivot to EU now. Will be more $ and longer likely but this has left a very sour taste. Plus, my wife will be back to work in January and won't have the time to try and do UMPI 10 credits in 2 terms. Looking at what more sophia and SDC she can do now instead to bring more credits to EU |
