Payment methods to TESU as international student - StudentOLife - 08-16-2022

How do we avoid the 2.85% + Foreign exchange fee? Can international students pay without credit card and do a bank transfer instead?..

I don't think so. American banks aren't set up like international banks. And you can only do whatever methods their payment processor supports.

Some major schools uses flywire https://pay.flywire.com/ but I don't see TESU on the recipient list. There is Excelsior College though, there is also Purdue University, but not exactly Purdue University Global.

Seems like internationals have to fork out that 2.85% credit card fees...? Has anyone International paid without that, could we post a cheque, how do we do so without getting de-registered in 1 business day...?

I'd contact TESU since international students may have limited options and not be able to use all of the options shown on the link above.

Everyone paying by card is charged the 2.85%. Not just international students. Many colleges charge a fee for accepting credit/debit cards as they have to pay for the payments to be processed. A check would take a few weeks to arrive - or months depending where you are. Paying with a card and the fee is the fastest way to pay your tuition.

I guess that means TESU is ~7% more expensive for international students. Weird that they don't support FlyWire, WU GlobalPay or even direct wire...

Basically decide... There are several ways of paying, I would follow the link provided in post #5. I would also email advising/registrar for payment clarification, generally they can "hold" the class registration and payment info for you and update the registration after the payment goes through.

So for example, if your bank can "bill pay" or send payment directly to TESU, that is an option. Bill Pay option allows you to send the payment directly from your bank. Some international banks charge a service fee, example $5/international payment, that saves you $ from the 2.85% extra in service fee.

I've just realized: Get a Wise.com account. The cost of converting money should be less than 2.85% + possible currency conversion fees from your own bank. You should be able to do the eCheck thing. Just make sure that you have converted enough US dollars prior to making payment.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, the only way to pay is through e-cheque that is not available out of the US, even wise.com doesn't work because it only does ACH, but not e-cheque.

There is a way to send an international cheque by mail to the address, then once they've received it, we can register. Bites for non-US students, unfortunately.
