Anyone care to guinea pig Coursera certs? - rachel83az - 07-26-2022

I've recently been made aware of a way to get "Coursera Plus" for free. This method also includes (for now) the IBM certs. I am not going to publicly post it (yet) because I don't want it to turn into another freebie that gets taken away when everyone rushes in.

But, if you PM me, I will share the method with students who want to take these certs, transfer them, and then report back what they've transferred as. There are potentially some UL credits available. Personally, I'm particularly interested in TESU equivalencies. But anything that's currently blank on the charts on the wiki will work. It'd also be helpful if you reported back how easy/difficult you found the certificates/specializations.

Credits could also be good for technical credits for Pierpont's AAS to (hopefully) access the BAS at UMPI. I'll add a column for Pierpont if people start reporting those equivalencies.

<raise hand> Me me me me, Pick me! I'd like to try this feature out if this is one, especially if it goes to the "other" field in my academic evaluation at TESU!

TESU wouldn't apply the Google Data Analytics certificate to my evaluation since I'm currently registered as a graduate certificate student, but I'll be moving to an undergraduate certificate or an ILA in September.

Well, that sucks. Such a silly requirement, IMO.

Anyone else guinea pig this thing? I applied with my name and email address, in Coursera there's a link to "join", I click it and get a message the program has been filled and to email them. Hmm, I think I'll just email them when I have the time, the verification process was quick, I didn't think they would have 'unlimited' spots but was hoping that...

I'm interested. I've been wanting to knock out some of their privacy certs.

I think it's a 6 month cycle and this is near the end of the cycle. (I saw something about September 30th when I was signing up.) I'm surprised it's "filled", though.

I'm a TESU CS undergraduate without any UL credit yest. I'd be super interested, so long as I know which Coursera classes have the best shot of transferring. Are you talking about these (https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera#IBM)?

Yes, those. But, really, anything without any equivalency on the page. (And if you happen to want to do more, that's also fine. Smile ) There is also the SAS certificate that says it's worth 3 UL Software Engineering credits, but we don't now what TESU will think of that yet.

@allvia I tried to PM you back and you currently have messaging disabled.

Oh I see, so there are (newly?) ACE-approved Coursera courses, and only some of them have been accepted by TESU, so in exchange for us getting free coursera premium, we take the risk of no credit for the sake of the community knowing

Are the Google and IBM certifications the only ACE-recommended courses available?
