TESU is greedy for selling something. Historical group is not greedy for wanting that something in their museum for free. Did I get that right? Historical group is not greedy for wanting that something in their museum for free. Did I get that right? I think that sums it up. It was given with a very short "don't sell for 3 years", I suspect the plan all along was raise visibility of the artwork (achieved), then sell to support TESU programs. RE: TESU is not making locals happy -about artwork - SweetSecret - 07-24-2022 I think people need to realize that TESU is a school, not an art museum. Granted, they have some other nice pieces of art. The community can and probably will keep the art in the area. I'm sure there are plenty of people with money around there that could buy it, and it's likely that some philanthropist would buy it and donate it to an art museum. It's very likely that the intention of giving it to the school to begin with was so that they could sell it to raise money to support the school programs. It seems ridiculous to me that people would put art over education. Maybe the people who are so upset about this or people who have never had to struggle and do not know the value of an education even just to get an employer to look at you? RE: TESU is not making locals happy -about artwork - BrianFallon - 07-26-2022 So, a stylized painting less than 100 years old depicts a visit by Washington to Trenton. It hangs in a location where very few students and the general public will ever see it. And TESU wants to sell it? Good. The Trenton Historical Society and all of those protesting can now raise money to bid on it and if they win, they will own this painting and do with it that which they wish. Win-win. |
