Help with TESU Dual Major Map - Insert Name - 07-21-2022 TESU evaluation posted. I put this together from the eval for the Spanish degree and the "what if" for the Art degree. Even though I have a plan for some of them (Sophia, etc.), I left blank the spots still needed to see if anyone knows or can help come up with options that I don't knw about. Besides what has been evaluated, here are classes/tests that are in progress and/or scheduled: Currently in (at CC) Art2-Intro to Visual Culture: 3cr PolSci2-American Government: 3cr Scheduled (ACTFL and CC) ACTFL WPT: 3-12cr Art38A: Intermediate Hand building: 3cr ART7: Beginning Drawing: 3cr SOC1A: Introduction to Sociology: 3cr I have questions. -At TESU are 200 level classes considered UL or LL? -If a UL course falls under Add'l AOS Elect does it count towards the 18? -The Art degree does not specify any specific place that the UL have to be, and it placed an UL Spanish course(s) in Add'l AOS Elect. Does that mean they count as UL for the Art AOS? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! RE: Help with TESU Dual Major Map - rachel83az - 07-22-2022 At TESU, 100 & 200-level courses are LL. 300 & 400 are UL. UL courses under Add'l AOS Electives do NOT count towards the 18. No, the Spanish courses do not count as UL for the Art degree. For the Art degree, UL must fall in parts A-F of the AOS. It looks like they expect F to have most/all of the UL credits. "A minimum of 18 credits must be upper level, 300 level or above, within the area of study." They're within the area of study, so I do think the additional electives count toward the upper-level requirement. The other specifics (hist, literature) can be 200 level (which I am guessing means LL intermediate, ie LL with a prerequisite), and the rest of the UL could be in the AOS electives. Does that seem right? (07-22-2022, 05:45 AM) pid=\372389' Wrote:"A minimum of 18 credits must be upper level, 300 level or above, within the area of study." It has that same statement under both of the elective sections. If this is true, it seems a little odd to me, but definitely something that would help in mapping UL courses. Something interesting about the Spanish degree. The ACTFL credits didn’t cover the intermediate section of the evaluation. They seem to all be evaluated as either in the 100s or 300s, and the degree requires 6 units in the 200s. RE: Help with TESU Dual Major Map - bjcheung77 - 07-22-2022 Basically, If your evaluation shows the courses in the AOS or additional AOS electives and they're UL, they are part of the 18 UL credits needed. You can add CLEP Spanish to the list, a score of 63 or higher will net you 9 credits, SPA-101 Beginner I, SPA-102 Beginner II and SPA-201 (Intermediate Spanish). Another option is to see if there are inexpensive Spanish II courses that can be transferred in as SPA-2XX to finish off this requirement. The main thing is to get enough for the UL as they're harder to find and more expensive to boot... If so, does it conflict with Studydc, which says their class transfers to TESU as SPA-201? Or would the CLEP and study meet the 6 units of intermediate Spanish requirement? https://study.com/college/school/thomas-edison-state-university.html RE: Help with TESU Dual Major Map - rachel83az - 07-22-2022 https://iq3prod1.smartcatalogiq.com/Catalogs/Thomas-Edison-State-University/Current/Undergraduate-Catalog/Methods-of-Learning-and-Earning-Credit/Exam-Programs/CLEP-College-Level-Examination-Program/Listing-of-CLEP-Exams It would, indeed, conflict with Spanish 102. Perhaps you could take Spanish 105 instead, if you need more LL credit? Need to find 6 units in the 200s to fill the intermediate requirement. Worse case, I’m thinking CLEP/Study 3cr and then either Span 3 or 4 (possibly native speaker) through the CC. But 6 in the 200s without it including a full semester class would spread things up. RE: Help with TESU Dual Major Map - dfrecore - 07-22-2022 1st - it is REALLY hard to read this - you don't have course names in there, which makes it much easier. 2nd - I think the Humanities elective will count towards the AoS UL 3rd - from previous info, I show that the ACTFL does only come in as 100-level and 300-level courses - so I'm not sure where you'll find that last SPA-202 (SPA-201 will come in from the CLEP) I'm not sure where you're going to find all the UL you need. Here's what I show for the ACTFL exams (scoring highest level in each): LPT unknown RPT SPA-130: Grammar & Composition I (3cr) SPA-131: Grammar & Composition II (3cr) OPIc/OPI SPA-110: Conversation & Composition I (3cr) SPA-111: Conversation & Composition II (3cr) SPA-310: Advanced Conversation & Composition I (3cr UL) SPA-311: Advanced Conversation & Composition II (3cr UL) WPT SPA-132: Composition & Stylistics I (3cr) SPA-133: Composition & Stylistics II (3cr) SPA-335: Advanced Composition & Stylistics I (3cr UL) SPA-336: Advanced Composition & Stylistics II (3cr UL) Here's what I show for the CLEP (Speaking) SPA-101: Elementary Spanish I SPA-102: Elementary Spanish II SPA-201: Intermediate Spanish I Study.com SPA 101: Beginning Spanish >> SPA-101 (duplicates CLEP) SPA 102: Intermediate Spanish >> SPA-102 (duplicates CLEP) SPA 105: Spanish for the Workplace >> SPA-199 RE: Help with TESU Dual Major Map - Insert Name - 07-23-2022 (07-22-2022, 07:37 PM)dfrecore Wrote: 1st - it is REALLY hard to read this - you don't have course names in there, which makes it much easier. Spreadsheet Does this help. I think I figured out how to share the spreadsheet, and made some changes. Highlighted yellow where I am focusing on finding something or a better option. |
