It's the heat but also the shrinking water supply.  Get ready for a price jump.

Isn't the shrinking water supply also the result of increased temperatures??

I would say 1) higher temeratures, 2) decreased percipitation, 3) increased use(population)

The packers have a monopoly and may use this to increase retail price, unfortunately the actual farmer/rancher will not see an increase in income. Farmers/ranchers are currently battling drastically increasing operating costs with fuel, hay, grains, etc. operating costs have nearly doubled for producers in 1 year. The price per pound of live animals has not increased to the actual farmers/ranchers. Add in a severe drought in the west. This will be tragic with a lot of family and small/medium livestock operations succumbing to this economy.
