What Physical science options are there? - dfrecore - 06-08-2022

I have a friend who is taking Spanish on ICC, and then applying to UMPI for the fall.  She has ONE course left to take - a Physical science course of some kind - prior to starting.  She was thinking of taking ICC's Astronomy course, but it expires on 6/30 and I'm not sure it's a great idea to start it now.

Since she only needs that course, she's thinking of maybe skipping doing it ahead of time and just doing that course at UMPI.

Can anyone tell me what courses are available for this?  She already has a lab science for her Biological science requirement, so she just needs a physical science w/o lab.  She does NOT want to take Chemistry.

I know that Human Bio on Sophia counted for GEC 3C for me. Double check on this, but I think that Sophia Environmental Sci would count for 3D.

how about study.com ace accredited

https://study.com/academy/goal/transferable-credit/online-college-credit.html
really hate their menu
selecting college / science and the physical sciences doesn't give you a link to the courses

Which area of the GEC? 3D? Environmental Science from Sophia fills this. On Study Chemistry 111L, Earth Science 101, Earth Science 104, Environmental Science 101, and Geology 101. I would not take a science class at UMPI.

ETA: StraighterLine has Intro to Environmental Science.

Environmental Science
Introduction to Geology

Someone has inquired about DSST exams at UMPI. The website says they accept them but does not list which ones.

That was me but I never heard back the DSST answer from Jessica.

SDC also has Astronomy. They also have Science 101: Intro to Natural Sciences and Science 102: Principles of Physical Science.

For InstantCert, I think they're renewing all of those courses, but you might want to check to confirm.

I think everyone misunderstood my question. She does not want to take this course ahead of time, but wants to know what is available for the no-lab physical science requirement AT UMPI.

She needs 10 courses anyway, and has everything else in the GEC filled, so this would satisfy one of her 10 courses there.

Again, what physical sciences are available AT UMPI?

RE: What Physical science options are there? - rachel83az - 06-09-2022

There is only one science class that UMPI offers, AFAIK. There is no choice, there is only pain.

Ok, but what course is that?

The one ashkir took. It counts for both biology & physical science w/ lab.
