This is an old story (2/21), but I just came across it.
Apparently a student signed up for an online art history course prominently mentioning a professor, but without any contact information for the professor.
2 months into the class, when the student Googled the professor to find contact information, he discovered that the professor had died 2 year prior.
Some interesting discussion in the article about the ethics of schools taking professors' recorded lectures and class materials and reusing them without consent.

I think this was discussed here in 2021, but I can't find the thread. Honestly, I don't see the problem as long as the professor was properly compensated during his or her lifetime. IIRC, at least one of the professors for the ASU Universal Learner classes is dead. I don't think the professors receive royalties for the use of the lectures while alive, so continuing to use them (as long as the material is good) is fine to me. Of course, that opens up a whole new can of worms on whether professors SHOULD get royalties for the continued use of online/on-demand course material that they create.

I've had some professors who reminded me quite a bit of Weekend at Bernie's. A few I think were Bernie. Someone propped them up on a podium and read a textbook to us for 50 minutes.
I just finished a class where the course content came from someone who has passed away. He created the course decades ago. There were audio recordings of lectures from him. He was fascinating to listen to. He truly loved what he was teaching about. You could hear it in his voice. I wish I was able to take a class with him because he sounded so passionated. I thought it was pretty cool that he left this material behind as part of his legacy.

I remember a movie about Newton, where they were showing classes at the university, and it was just people reading from notebooks or papers.
