Transfer Credit Limit Question - fcapfts - 04-20-2022
Hi! Simply asked: is the 90 transfer credit limit a combination of both previous college course credits AND ACE/NCCRS credits? Or just restricting ACE/NCCRS transfer credits?
I am SO confused and could use some input. I have my Associates of Arts degree from a community college. I have attempted to finish my BA several times and now have 130+ quarter credit hours from 4 different colleges including 2 community colleges, WGU, and one state university. I am unsure how these credits will transfer over and am trying to decide how to proceed.

TESU has a limit of 90 ACE/NCCRS credits applied per bachelors degree program and 45 per associates. The limit does not apply to credits from regionally accredited colleges, PLR, PLA, and other miscellaneous TESU-assessed credits. This limit is per degree program; you can bring in more for multiple degrees, concentrations, or certificates.

It's not really a limit in the same way that other schools have. They say that you MUST have at least 30 RA credits for a Bachelor's degree and at least 15 RA credits for an Associate. This works out to being an ACE transfer limit in practice, but it's still not quite the same.
Example:
Every single one of your classes is 3 credits, except you transfer in a 4-credit ACE class in Calculus for a total of 91 ACE/NCCRS credits. If TESU had a 90-credit limit, you'd automatically lose one of your ACE classes and have to find 2 credits somewhere. What SHOULD happen with TESU is that Calculus slots into your degree, you also have 30 RA credits, and you wind up graduating with 121 credits no problem.
Also: if you continue to transfer in additional ACE courses, TESU will continue to transcript them. They will simply go to the "unused credits" portion of your degree plan.

@fcapfts, You also mentioned quarter credits, so is it all combined to 130+ quarter credits? If that's the case, you have all the RA you need, you can finish the degree by completing the remaining requirements of that degree major/area of study. You need to ask yourself if you're going to be paying the residency waiver fee or taking 16 credits for residency.

Really, the best thing to do is list your courses here, and we can tell you how they will come in at TESU. I've been doing this for 10 years and am usually pretty spot on.
Do it like this:
School A (RA or NA? Semester- or Quarter-based? 2yr or 4yr school)
Course #, full course name, # of credits, grade if less than a C
Repeat for each school. Keep them separate. Do not include transfer info (so if you went to school A and then transferred credits to school B, don't list them as school B). Keep things at their school of origin.
Note any courses that things are unclear, like if a science had a lab. Explain anything else that is unclear.
