How long does it take to get started? And other questions - Brownie82 - 02-26-2022 Hi all! I'd like to finish up my degree here. I applied and immediately sent over my transcripts (the last one was received on Jan 26th). I got some calls for the enrollment counselor who is, no offense to her, useless since the answer to every question that I had was "You'd have to wait to talk to..." Anyway, I wanted to start in the Summer session, but I think I will be able to get started during Spring 2 and the deadline is coming up. I haven't heard from anyone! I know it is half my fault, I got really busy over the last 2 weeks. But I emailed my counselor about my next steps and I haven't heard from her. I really just want an Audit right now to see what I need to be done. Because if I can squeeze in another ACE course or two, I'd just wait and do that first. Also, I had a few other questions. How hard is it to transfer in credits after acceptance? I'm self-learning Korean now and wanted to take the language test for credit at the end of the year if possible. If its not too likely, I'll just go with the instacert Spanish. And I am applying for financial aid and will request an extra $500 from my loan. My son stepped on my Chromebook and I'd like to get another, regular laptop for class. As a new student, when is that disbursed? I attended WGU for a while and they sent out disbursements a month after classes and I think you had to complete a class first, too. RE: How long does it take to get started? And other questions - rachel83az - 02-26-2022 If you applied for the summer session, I think that you might be given lower priority in the audit queue than students who applied for Spring 2. If you want to change up to spring, you might have to reapply? Not sure. I remember that you can defer your enrollment, but I don't remember anything about moving it up. If you're not going to be ready to test Korean until the end of the year, I would just do InstantCert. Assuming maximum transfer to UMPI, you'll probably be completely done with the degree before the end of the year. RE: How long does it take to get started? Have you submitted all of your transcripts to UMPI? You still have time to be accepted and move to the Spring 2 session. Be sure to check your email because that's how UMPI will notify you of your acceptance. Also check your spam folder. Once you're accepted, you'll get an email about setting up your MyCampus account which brings you to MaineStreet which is where everything you'll need is located. You'll also get an UMPI email account. Have you already added UMPI to your FAFSA? You will need to contact financial aid for the change in your loan. You can also ask them what kind of progress you need to make on your classes to get the extra loan money sent to you. It will be a few weeks into the session. Once you're enrolled you will need permission from your academic advisor to transfer in additional courses. Personally I find it easier to focus on one platform at a time. I wouldn't have the time or brain power to take classes form multiple sources. I'd also want to get as much done at UMPI in a session as possible since I'm paying $1400 per 8 weeks. |
