Arguing Eval - sarahmac - 02-08-2022

My partner's credit eval is almost done and they've messed quite a few up. Like transferring in a 5 credit Gen Chem II course as a non-lab course, even though the course number is quite clearly the one after Gen Chem I and they noted that as a lab.

He emailed his assigned admissions advisor asking if there was somewhere to send in syllabi to get it fixed, and she said no you must make an appointment to call/video conference etc. with an advisor. Is that true? Other people here have mentioned being able to just email? He's deployed overseas rn and with the time difference is really not wanting the inconvenience of that due to errors on their end (i.e. they misspelled precalculus on his unofficial transcript thing as precalacus ffs).

TIA

That's really weird that they'd say that he HAS to call. There is, or was, wording on the site specifically about many students preferring to email because of time differences.

Based on the helpful link above, I will presume it is that one advisor being particularly awkward. And for no good reason too, it's not like it is a difficult problem to solve - he isn't arguing course content in terms of topics, which I could absolutely understand being a harder thing to resolve and maybe needing an appointment. Just that they missed the "lab" code.

I would wait until your partner gets an email notification that the evaluation is complete.

Yes, wait - they may still make changes.

Then, if you find that there's a mistake, email the syllabus and tell them the problem, and they should fix it immediately.  I've had no issues with TESU fixing mistakes they've made - and when I was wrong, they explained why something didn't work where I thought it would.

Then, come back and let us know if you're still having issues.

You might want to take a look at the evaluation, it may have been placed in the "other" field below the academic evaluation by mistake... I would wait for the evaluation to be completed first, if you want, create a "what if" and see if it has listed all the courses you have transferred, if it's missing something, check the bottom under the "other" field.

Haven't been on here for a while - I argued my eval for a couple of courses. Had to send in the course outline from my college.

I believe one did get accepted, but by the time it did, I had already finished the equivalent course online.

Yup, if it's an UL course and hard to find alternative credit options for that course, then yeah, I would try to appeal... However, if it's cheaper, easier, faster just to do another ACE/NCCRS course for credit, then I would spend the time getting it completed instead of "waiting" for the appeal.

On this note, does anyone know the general timeframe to hear back on an appeal? I submitted a couple for my latest eval.
