Avant Assessment: Language Proficiency Exams for ACE Credit - MNomadic - 02-01-2022 ACE page Avant Assessment website Looks like these are more designed for institutions like schools for placement but there may be a way for individuals to partake. One of their exams is worth up to 16 LL credits. RE: Avant Assessment: Language Proficiency Exams for ACE Credit - dfrecore - 02-01-2022 First, they're aligned with ACTFL; second, I can't find the cost (except additional $10 test fee) , and it doesn't look like you can just do a single "student" at this time; third, 16cr LL for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening is a lot - I think you're better off doing an ACTFL exam for one thing only - or mixing and matching. RE: Avant Assessment: Language Proficiency Exams for ACE Credit - rachel83az - 02-01-2022 It's a shame that they don't seem to have testing for individuals. I would have to compare, but I think they have a few languages that the regular ACTFL exams don't have (or don't have cheaply). RE: Avant Assessment: Language Proficiency Exams for ACE Credit - MNomadic - 02-01-2022 I noticed they're partnered with one of my local school districts, so it may be worth looking into if you have a student who is or will attend a district that offers this. As mentioned, a few languages offered by some of the exams may not be offered(easily) through other means. Just wanted to post for exposure in case someone finds the info helpful. They do have individual testing. I took a Russian test a few years ago and I remember it being less than $100 totalĀ for reading, writing, listening, and speaking with remote proctoring. I only asked about Russian but they mentioned having a number of other languages. I know my university was testing for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish before the pandemic which is how I even found out about them. |
