UMass Global / Brandman myPath Application and Transfer Experience? - origamishuttle - 01-26-2022 I'm curious about UMass Global myPath, and I couldn't figure out how courses would transfer, so I'm currently going through the application process. I sent my Credly transcript, and I was accepted, but I'm still struggling to understand how my transfer credits (included below) will apply to the BSIT degree. Can anyone with experience help me to understand what to expect? I scheduled a meeting with an Academic Coach, but it's still three weeks away, and I'm hoping to gain a little insight before then. Code: | 2021: | Sophia Learning (ACE) | | | | | | | | RE: UMass Global / Brandman myPath Application and Transfer Experience? - Kab - 01-26-2022 I don`t know much but I found: Quality points are for GPA. Its the results of multiplying the credits hours per mark. So 3 credits hour and a 4 = you get quality 12 quality points. I should have included this, but I reached the character limit on my post: Code: | | Attempt Hours | Passed Hours | Earned Hours | GPA Hours | Quality Points | GPA | One thing I'm confused about is how the credits actually apply to the degree. At WGU, specific courses in the degree program show as "Met" and "Not met" when transfers are evaluated, but I haven't found anything similar for myPath. Ideally I would want to figure out what other courses can be transferred in to max out the 75% for the degree. I would also like to get more information about the courses in order to make a more informed decision, but maybe I'll just have to enroll to find out? I'm not finding anything online from someone who has actually completed a UMass Global or even Brandman myPath degree. That's really common. Oftentimes they have a degree plan for you to follow. If so, in order to take/transfer more alternative credits to get to the 75% max, I may need to go through an iterative process, waiting weeks for an advisor consult, complete/transfer more credit, wait more weeks, etc. A couple other possibilities: - Just go for it and get started on the degree - Go for a school with a much more transparent process RE: UMass Global / Brandman myPath Application and Transfer Experience? - bjcheung77 - 01-26-2022 Essentially, You should list all your credits completed and the degree you're going for at Brandman/UMass Global. They have two BSIT degree concentrations and you can get IT certs to complete some requirements, in total you can transfer in 75% and if you have certs, ~14 IT certs can take ~14 different courses. Basically I enquired about this a few years ago, the only downside is for ACE, you need to score 81.5% not the 70% for transfer of credits, I don't think they've changed on that... not a big deal as most people like me like to go over 85% for each ACE course, just to make sure I know the subject, I'm not here for the quick credits... Here's my outdated transfer docx link, I noticed they take CIW too: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AuSy9T2rbQuagy8aGiVRhtsG93lS?e=YDdUO1 RE: UMass Global / Brandman myPath Application and Transfer Experience? - origamishuttle - 01-26-2022 (01-26-2022, 07:11 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Essentially, You should list all your credits completed and the degree you're going for at Brandman/UMass Global. Thank you - these are good points. I'm including more information below. A few things to note: - Credly only lists pass/fail, so UMass Global doesn't actually have my scores, but my lowest Sophia score was 89. - All my Sophia credits add up to 50, so it appears that they're all listed as transferred. - Google IT and SDC CS113 appear to be listed as transferred from StraighterLine. - None of my (non-ACE) certifications transfer. - I don't hold any of their listed transferable certs yet. - I think all of the MS certs they do accept have been retired, so they can no longer be earned. The AWS certs for sure should come in, shouldn't they? I would probably try to get an earlier call with someone, and see what they say. I agree that if it's not easy to figure out what things come in as, then it may not be a good fit. The AWS certs for sure should come in, shouldn't they? It's definitely a possibility that there's still more evaluation to be done. However, to my knowledge, they don't provide credit for AWS certs. Even their list of Microsoft certs is pretty dated. I'll keep trying to get more information, and I'll share anything I get, although, so far, their process does seem relatively opaque and slow. |
