GoStudent raises $340M - bjcheung77 - 01-17-2022

I didn't even know this was a tutoring agency until I read the article... I thought it was an activity website for students as I've never used their services. Anyways, wow, they've become a large tutoring agency because of the Covid Pandemic and now wanting to expand internationally...

Oh, it's SUCH good news (NOT!) that some outfit has capitalized on COVID to this extent. Let's tell everyone their deceased relatives didn't die of COVID in vain, because THIS outfit made tons of money from the pandemic that killed them!

I'm particularly dismayed to see tutoring mushroom into such a large-scale business as this. It's indicative to me of something having gone terribly wrong in the school system. This appears as a new money-sucker of forbidding size and colossal appetite for parents' dollars. Perhaps a fitting early intro to the labyrinth of spiralling education costs. Will we see parents with pre-college student debt, for tutoring services to their children, who are supposed to be adequately taught in their day schools - from taxes?

Find the problem, deal with it, root it out. Don't construct and fund a huge new one.
