Help Me Choose Degree Path - Miyabi - 12-15-2021

Thank you to everyone who posts on these forums. The information I've found here has been amazing and I feel like I will finally complete the degree I started long ago.
I have my meeting with Jessica tomorrow afternoon. Based on my transfer credit information below, it looks like I will need to complete 16 classes (I didn't know about the upper level credit requirement.) I am going for the BLS with Management Information Systems minor.
I can only afford to do two terms... does it look like the BLS w/MIS is the fastest choice for me or does anyone have any other ideas? (I'm waiting to see what the Google Data Analytics certificate transfers in as but I don't have high hopes it will fill anything I still need.)

If you wanted to take American Government via ICC, that wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I would also appeal English 101 coming in as ENG 100 - I'd ask them to have it be ENG 101 if you can show that it's an equivalent.

If the Google cert comes in as 12cr, you're down to exactly 30cr, which is ideal.

Other than that, I think you did well maximizing your college credits and Sophia.

I would take American Government on InstantCert. I wouldn't take anything else because you need to complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI but you also need to complete most of the UL requirements at UMPI as well. The UL requirements are outside of the minor. Jessica will have all of this info for you on your degree audit sheet. She'll go over what you need and be able to let you know what courses will be available when. I have not seen anyone transfer in any certifications from Google so if the Registrar approves it, let us know. That's not up to Jessica.

I finished 19 classes in two terms. I finished last week. I did BLS with management and educational studies minors. If you have ample amount of time to work I think you can do it!

Recap: CC - English 101, Cultural Anthropology, Biology w lab, Psychology, Spanish 1, Spanish 2 - the rest are from Sophia.org
You need to decide on Big 3 vs Competency Based degree such as NAU, PUG, UMPI, Walden, UMASS, WGU
How you decide depends on your commitments and how "fast/well" you get courses completed, if you're into self paced or not...

So, you have a few courses that are from a community college, this should be about 18-19 credits that are RA.  If you go with COSC/TESU, you will need to complete a few more RA credits before they will allow you to graduate, you need 24 RA credits transferred in and complete at a minimum 6 credits from them.  For Excelsior, you just need to complete 7 credits from them to graduate, you can transfer in everything else...

Decide on the degree and the school, you're at that junction in time you really need to find out what is best for you with your current commitments, you're looking for cheap, easy, fast, but going with UMPI may or may not be for you if you have commitments and can't allocate enough time for studies.  BTW, two terms is a minimum at UMPI $2800, a third term is $4200.  If you keep your costs down, the Big 3 can be about the same all in...

Furthermore, asking "how fast" someone can finish a course is a great option to gauge how fast THEY can get things done. You need to really look at how YOU get things done. As I mentioned above, if you have kids, work, other commitments and "something happens in life" that will come up here or there, your UMPI or CBE option would not be my choice... I would do the Big 3 instead.

Thank you all, I really appreciate your responses.

I spoke with Jessica today and I'm moving forward with the UMPI BLS - MIS minor. I am going to complete American Government in the next couple of weeks on InstantCert. I hopeful that I can complete the remaining courses in two terms, my kids are grown and although I work full time, I have evenings and weekends to devote to school.

Hopefully the Google Analytics cert will help cut my course load a bit!
