TEEX Accrediation - creationstory - 12-01-2021 I was wondering if TEEX Cyber Courses lost their ACE accreditation? I was hearing something about how it may expire on Nov 30, 2021. RE: TEEX Accrediation - MNomadic - 12-01-2021 I checked earlier today and yes they are still listed as expiring on the 30th. If you finish before expiration you're good. There's a good chance that they may renew, but we won't know until we hear something official. https://www.acenet.edu/National-Guide/Pages/Course.aspx?org=Texas+Engineering+Extension+Service&cid=017eec45-92c4-ea11-a812-000d3a378a3a RE: TEEX Accrediation - k-k-k-katy - 12-03-2021 Apparently TEEX UL Death Investigation course has also expired. That's too bad. Does anyone know about status of this course, is it going to be updated/renewed? RE: TEEX Accrediation - rachel83az - 12-03-2021 I would email them to ask about it. The ACE website has been slow to update, so it's impossible to tell if a course has been renewed properly or dropped entirely until a couple months have gone by. RE: TEEX Accrediation - bjcheung77 - 12-03-2021 Yup, I would wait a week or two for things to clear up in the queue. ACE has many providers they need to update on their website accordingly and time will tell... If you haven't started the TEEX courses, work on something else as these may take a while longer to update. Work on the CSM Learn course or something while you're waiting... RE: TEEX Accrediation - k-k-k-katy - 12-16-2021 I received this reply (from TEEX) in response to my email inquiry: Good morning, We have applied for recertification with ACE. My understanding is there is a 6 month extension of approval while we wait for the new approval. Robin Crawford Business Coordinator Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service RE: TEEX Accrediation - rachel83az - 12-16-2021 That's good news! I would wait for the National Guide to reflect the (temporary) extension and then complete the course(s) ASAP if you need them for your degree plan. RE: TEEX Accrediation - chevy - 03-18-2022 Recently noticed an update to the Cyber 101, 201, and 301 courses on the TEEX site, claiming most of the courses being recommended for 2 credits (not specified whether lower or upper division, and not yet reflected in ACE National Guide) for a potential total of 18 ACE credits vs the previous (and still expired) 10. Five of the courses (at least one each in each of the tracks) shows as a prerequisite: "Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident or receive approval from TEEX/DHS-FEMA prior to the start of the class. Please contact us for more information on the approval process." The page for AWR175 Information Security for Everyone can no longer be found, TEEX seems to have replaced it with AWR397 Cybersecurity for Everyone on the Cyber 101 track. Two new courses have been added to Cyber 301, AWR396 and AWR399. All these new courses have that citizenship or permanent residency requirement. I'm not sure if I hadn't noticed the prerequisite before, or if it was recently added, but if enforced beyond the easily bypassed disclaimer, non-citizen non-residents won't be able to complete any of these tracks to get credit. ![]() Here's a link to the spreadsheet. I'll try to keep it updated. RE: TEEX Accrediation - rachel83az - 03-18-2022 The disclaimer about only being for US citizens or permanent residents has always been there. Pretty sure about that. Some people got around it via various means, though I wouldn't recommend doing so. Fingers crossed that it's actually almost renewed, though. I'd be tempted to go back for the remaining free credits, just because they're free. |
