Choosing and Prepping For DSST Tests?? - hbc789 - 04-30-2008

I need 3 upper division credits to complete my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Park University. The only choices I have are:

SH 495 - Drug and Alcohol Abuse
SH 483 - The Civil War and Reconstruction
SL 471 - Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
SM 530 - Human Resource Management
SL 531 - Organizational Behavior
SM 548 - Money and Banking
SL 511 - Environment and Humanity: Race to Save the Planet

From past experience; can anyone advise which of my options are the easiest? I'm leaning toward "Drug and Alcohol Abuse" because its the most appealing to me.

Also, I signed up for IC but dont want to use them as my only study guide unless you all think its enough. What other options are there for prepping for DSST tests online?

As far as I'm aware, both HRM & OB are both LL credit exams. I would say that DAA may be slightly "easier" than most but you may stand a better chance with a more cut-and-dry exam such as the Civil War. One important thing is to clear it with your advisor FIRST - Good Luck!

The tests I posted are the options given to me by my advisor. Do you know of any other places to study for DSST tests or is IC enough?

Yeah, I thought RTSTP was lower level, too. It might be considered upper at that school, though.
I agree that D and A is probably the easiest, Money and Banking the hardest. As far as the history tests, Civil War is easier than USSR, because you only have to learn about 10 years of US history, compared to about 100 years of soviet history.

Aside from IC, there are very little other sources of study for DSST exam prep other than the Pass-Your-Class guides; I've used them with great success on several DSST & CLEP exams.

You can download the DSST review book here -
US Air Force - Education and Library Resource Center - Dantes Subject Standardized Tests

It only has Org Behavior and HRM in the book out of the choices you have. There is also a practice test for D&A below the book.

If Organizational Behavior is really considered UL I would definitely go with that!

Inwe-

I know this is off topic but I have been meaning to ask you- what courses are you taking for your marketing concentration at TESC? I am in the process of applying for the BSBA in marketing also and was just wondering if you are taking your marketing classes through TESC or another option? I am thinking about taking the 4 marketing courses Penn Foster offers- Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research, Retail Management, and Advertising.

I would appreciate any insight you can give. Big Grin

I second Inwe's opinion, Organizational Behavior all the way (especially if you have already done Principles of Management).

IC + The PDF book accessible from the link above are more than enough. I think all I had to do is quickly go through the material once to score a 70, it was that easy, but I had done Principles of Management before. I had also done introductory Psychology as well, but I don't remember if that helped a little with some of the concepts (hopefully other members can help here).
