Resource for EC Psych Majors: Course Alternatives - alix - 04-27-2008 As Psych majors at Excelsior College know, EC changed their requirements last year in such a way that the major can’t be tested out of entirely (unless EC applies credits from a high Psychology GRE score to all major requirements). I did some research on my distance-learning options for the two required course areas where EC does not provide coursework themselves, as well as the one other area where there is no exam and only EC coursework as an option. Below you’ll find my list of possible alternatives. Courses prefaced with a * are listed in the Excelsior College course catalog and not all of those are EC courses. I assume that if EC lists the course/exam in their own catalog, it must be an approved substitution. For those courses not prefaced with an asterisk, these are ones I found myself and I do not know if EC will approve them. However, from their descriptions, I am guessing that they might. I believe all of these courses are through regionally-accredited institutions and I think that my estimate of course fees is correct, however, I did a lot of this research at about 3 am, so do double-check before signing up for anything. I also tried to find upper-level options and noted where something might not be U/L. Where possible, I included a link to the page for the course. I hope this helps someone else out!
