Please help!! - princykit - 04-24-2008 Hi there! I am taking civil war and reconstruction dsst tomorrow... I went to the specific feedback and printed what people said to know. A couple of things that I can't find answers to ANYWHERE!! (Not google,wikipedia,about.com) They are: What country did confederate officials escape to after the war? What was the primary source of funding for the CSA during war? Did the Souths Representation increase or decrease after war? Thanks in advance! any help is awesome!! Please help!! - Epiphany - 04-24-2008 Brazil. Emperor Don Pedro II requested many new immigrants in the 20 years after the civil war. Many also went to Mexico, but the answer they are looking for is likely Brazil. There is actually still a rather large community of their descendants stilll in Brazil. I'm surprised they ask that question. It is fairly obscure. Please help!! - princykit - 04-24-2008 Thanks Cinderly and Joe. Huh... Brazil of all places. never would have guessed that! Say, do you know if the factsheet review questions are fairly accurate to what the real exam will be like? I got 75% on them....seemed pretty straight forward. Thanks again. Sarah Please help!! - ArmyStudent72 - 04-25-2008 Heres a couple of articles I found on the internet regarding the Confederate officials fleeing the country and the website where I found them at. Mexico and Brazil seem to lead the list. Hope this helps. In the spring of 1865, the Confederacy collapsed. The Confederate state government disbanded, leaving Murphy alone in nominal control. Before attempting to follow these heroic souls on their interesting ventures into the wilds of the tropics it may be well to make brief inquiry into a few factors which prompted their going- SHQ Online :: Volume 39 Number 2 :: Confederate Exodus to Latin America Please help!! - princykit - 05-01-2008 I passed with a 63!!! Very happy to have it behind me. I chuckled when I had the question where did the confederates escape to? Thanks you guys for the help..... anyone studing for this test IC is a GREAT resource. If you are comfortable with both the flashcards and the explanations you should be fine. I also bought the civil war book an Ordeal by fire. Very useful.(especial the companion website that has tests after each chapter.) At least 4 questions were almost verbatiam on the practice test. I didn't find the sparknotes all that useful. What little information it contained was really too general to earn points on the exam. Also...don't buy the books! The exact same information is available on their website, for free! I will give them credit for getting the major events and kinda give you a overview of the events. Definitely a doable exam. Good luck! |
