Hospital Sign Up Bonus! - bjcheung77 - 08-24-2021

Want an extra $40 grand? That's about half my yearly wage right there!

Well, if you're in the nursing field, you got it!

I'm not surprised by this article at all.  I'm a BSN and also a DON (director of nursing) for a surgical floor at a large hospital.  Due to the pandemic and other factors surrounding it, many of my colleagues have decided to get out of the healthcare field altogether.  I can't blame them after some of the things I've witnessed both inside my hospital and out.  I have been contacted twice in the last year by former supervisors with job offers making much more than I do where I am currently - that's not including killer sign-on bonuses (one was $25k and the other was $30k) and relocation assistance.  I have no desire to go back to floor nursing or work in ICU or PICU.  My original plan was to get a MSN, however, I've decided to get out of patient-facing roles altogether, and am enrolled in a MHA program at a state university where I live.  The sooner I am strictly administration, the better.
