University of LaVerne Certificates for Educators - $125/cr - sanantone - 08-21-2021 University of LaVerne offers professional development courses that are worth graduate credits. It looks like all the courses have education prefixes, but there are some interesting certificates that can be earned with these courses. For example, you can earn a certificate in Health and Human Development, Contemporary World History and Politics, World History, or Sports Psychology and Coaching (mostly KINE prefixes). https://www.pdcourses.net/ RE: University of LaVerne Certificates for Educators - $125/cr - rachel83az - 08-21-2021 I wonder if these courses could be transferred to TESU for use in their History degree or any other degree. The price is pretty good and there are at least two courses (one about China and one about North Korea) that could potentially work for the non-western history requirement if someone doesn't like ONU or BYU. I haven't kept up with TESU. Several years ago, they were pretty picky about giving liberal arts credits for courses with an education prefix. One guy managed to convince them to give him social science credits. University of LaVerne Certificates for Educators - $125/cr - ROYISAGIRL - 08-21-2021 Some of those history and science courses look interesting. I peeked at the syllabus for a few of them and it makes me wonder if they would come into TESU as not EDU. I may guinea pig the couple that interest me. RE: University of LaVerne Certificates for Educators - $125/cr - jsd - 08-21-2021 And they're self-paced! Teacher professional development courses usually have odd names. The history course descriptions focus more on college-level content than K-12 pedagogy. University of La Verne's science courses, though, are pretty basic. If you choose to do that I'd love to know if they are accepted at TESU. I'm working on a history degree and my wife owns a daycare and is also working on a degree so she could possibly benefit from this as well if the credits are accepted. From what I can see the school has Regional Accreditation. Your signature reminds me of an idea I had to put together a spreadsheet for all available BOG and Reverse Transfer or similar programs across the country. I really like those programs and think they can be helpful to a lot of people. It's the same program as the Pierpont CC program so many on this forum have pursued, it just requires 3 credits of residency. Several schools in WV offer it. Pierpont may be the only one that doesn't require residency now. I needed the RA credit anyway, and being originally from WV, and still having a lot of contacts there, it meant a lot to me to get it from WVUP instead. The degree for me is a personal fulfillment endeavor anyway, as I am far closer to retirement than I am the start of a career. I am grateful for a program like this that helps put together all the various credits into a degree at relatively low cost. It doesn't matter how much is left until retirement, I know a lot of people who feel young despite their age and think it's just a number.(09-20-2021, 11:51 AM)eLearner Wrote:(09-19-2021, 03:39 PM)NC Coach Wrote:(08-21-2021, 06:30 AM)ROYISAGIRL Wrote: Some of those history and science courses look interesting.
