Thank You to Everyone - Randyj512 - 07-13-2021

I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum. I have been lurking around here for about 4 to 5 years keeping up with all the education news/colleges/Ace credits. I've done a couple of the free ones mentioned over the years Institutes/Study.com-Principles of finance and the 1 credit free courses on Sophia. I'm in the Navy working as an Culinary Specialist. After procrastination and self-doubt I decided to take initiative during a 2 month down period from March to April and knocked out 20 Sophia courses all while taking care of my family and working. I applied all the Sophia credits, my JST,  and 1 letter grade class I've done at Saint Leo University, in which I earned an A, to an Pierpont Board of Governors AAS degree and will be graduating on August 6th with a 4.0 GPA and Emphasis in Business. I will continue on to my Bachelors after I knock out a few more Sophia courses and more than likely apply to UMPI YourPace program. I am always telling my junior sailors, friends, and family about this forum and Sophia.org, especially. I would like to thank everyone in this forum for the help/advice and I will pay it forward myself.

Well done! Former Canadian navy cook that also followed advice here and got a BSBA at TESU, now doing MBA at HAU.

Keep on moving forward!

Cool! If you can do 20 Sophia courses in 2 months, you can definitely do a term or two at UMPI.

The ONLY reason you might want to think about COSC or TESU though, is because they may be cheaper than UMPI if you're active-duty military:

COSC will be $1,753 for the cornerstone, capstone and fees; TESU will be $2,698 for the Cornerstone, Capstone, 6 LL TECEP exams, and fees (those TECEP's count for residency so no $3200 waiver for you to pay) . For the BSBA, TESU's is ACBSP-accredited which is better than COSC; they also require only 15cr of UL in the AoS. Both schools will require 30cr of RA, sounds like with TECEP's, Cornerstone, capstone and your St. Leo's course, you're at 27cr, so you just need 1 additional RA course at TESU.

Anyway, congrats, and good luck going on to your BSBA!

Congrats, thank you for your service! And it's a toss up for you, as I highly recommend TESU as an option for individuals who are still active service people. You can get 18 RA credits through TECEP exams and finish the degree with the Cornerstone/Capstone. The degree will cost you $1500 for the capstone/cornerstone and $900 for the 18 RA credits through TECEP. Thus the degree can be had for $2400 vs two terms at UMPI for $2800. Hmm... depends on which degree you're looking at...

I'll take a look into it the TECEP. I think the flexibility of the UMPI degree will be better for me if I am able to knock out as much as I can in a term and finish in a term or two. Something about working when and as fast as you want is more appealing and financial aid will cover the term at UMPI compared to out of pocket at TESU.

Most definitely. The military cook is one of the most thankless jobs in the military. But we persevere and move forward.

Totally off-track, but I'm considering the HAU MBA - for $3,000 you just can't beat it!  Can you tell me what you think of the program?

UMPI gives you credit for military service too! I don't know if it translates to YourPace, but it doesn't hurt to try Big Grin

Very happy with. To the point of being an unpaid sales person. If not looking for the brand of school and an unranked MBA will do what you want/need, it's a no Brainer IMHO

20 Sophia classes in 2 months? You'll rock at UMPI! Awesome job! Keep up the great work.

We do, and we know hard work and reward.
