It looks like I was right about a person on this forum, too.

Several years ago, it was revealed that Josh Duggar molested five of his sisters when he was 14-15. When he confessed to his parents, they went to a friend who was a state trooper. Even though this trooper had a mandatory duty to report, he did not. Later, that same trooper was convicted for child pornography.
The Duggars said they sent Josh away for counseling. It turns out he did labor for a family friend for a few months and went back home. Since he never received real treatment, and he was showing signs of lack of self-control in adulthood based on other stories that came out, I predicted that he would reoffend. Someone in my original thread defended the parents' actions claiming he was unlikely to reoffend.
Guess what! Josh was just arrested for possessing child pornography. Not only did his parents put their own daughters in danger, but they also put their future grandchildren in danger by not getting their son professional help and sweeping this under the rug. He has also victimized all those kids who were photographed being sexually abused. Disgusting!

When it was announced yesterday that he had been arrested but the charges weren't announced unfortunately my first and only guess was child porn. Hate that I was right. His lawyers are trash just like him. I haven't read a single person's comments about this anywhere who believes him. That says something. There aren't cheerleaders on FB saying he's so wonderful. It's a quite a bit different this time around. These are federal charges so it's BAD.

This was a story I was aware of as a news headline but I never followed the details, never watched the "19 and Counting" show or any of that. I found this article from back in 2015 that details the allegations in a timeline format from it's start in 2002 up until the show was cancelled in 2015. Treatment of sexual offenders is dicey at best but it seems clear that a lot of people were hurt because it wasn't dealt with properly in the early stages.

I'm not always a big believer in coincidence so I'm wondering if there's any connection between this Duggar story and the fact that the German Police just busted a dark web porn site with 400,000 members. Either way, there's going to be some new child porn scandals in the news in the very near future.

I would hate to be on that jury! I know virtually nothing about the whole thing, but having to hear about/see child pornography?!? No thank you. That would haunt me for the rest of my life.

It's both infuriating and not surprising to see that at least one person on this board was defending the approach that was initially taken by the family.
Hopefully some sort of accountability finally comes out of this, and not just a slap on the wrist or other failure of our justice system.

I read through that whole original thread, and I'm not finding the person you're talking about. If it was Rebel100, then I don't agree - he said that the system would have just put him back in the home, based on his experience in law enforcement. He wasn't really defending their approach (at least, that's now how I took it). He gave a very nuanced anwer.
So if it wasn't Rebel100, who was it? Just curious.
