MIT Professional Education - Alpha - 02-23-2021

There's some interesting stuff in here.  Some of it is expensive, some less so, but it's all MIT.

Too bad it's only CEUs and not college credits. It'd be cool to have some MIT credits on my transcript. Smile

What is the significance of CEUs here?

RE: MIT Professional Education - rachel83az - 02-24-2021

CEUs are useful for some careers. For instance, teachers might need to obtain a certain number of CEUs every year in order to maintain their teaching licenses. They're worthwhile to some people, just not to degree-seekers.

I believe the title of the forum is "General Education-Related Discussion."

Many professions require a specific number of CEU's/continuing education credits every year to maintain your certification and/or license.

If you're hoping to PLA your work, CEUs can help you quantify that work. There are some 'CEUs to credits' charts around, which you might find helpful if you're going that route.

It's also nice if, for example, a job advert mentions wanting a candidate who is 'engaged in lifelong learning' (or similar wording), you can mention the number of CEUs you've earned over the last 12 months (or whatever timeframe) in your cover letter. If you get to the interview stage, you've given the interviewer a great thing to ask about.

Being engaged in lifelong learning is an excellent point! I'll have to remember this.
