University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - nyvrem - 02-09-2021 Its a pity. They used to offer a Bsc in Creative Computing and a Bsc in Information Systems from Birkbeck iirc. Both cost roughly around 6k pounds for the whole program that can be done via self study. Everything in IT has been removed and replaced with their BS in Computer Science via Cousera which cost like 15k pounds. RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - nomaduser - 02-09-2021 Yeah... that's crazy! BSc in Computer Science costs 15k pounds ($20k USD) and that's too expensive for a degree from a distance learning institution. And this BSc in Computer Science has fixed 3 year schedule. You can't finish it any faster than that. They'll lock you into their schedule. So I decided to not pursue this program. It costs too much money and time.... RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - Cofffeee - 02-09-2021 Amity University has Bs Computer Applications for 3000$ total.cost also 3 years if anyone is not in rush. Degrees from GOOD Indian schools (including Amity) travel quite well. That includes degrees earned in India by emigrants and distance degrees earned by non-Indians, e.g. Don Bosco Global, which includes many US distance grads of its master's programs, particularly MBA and IT. On a personal note, several of my college/university instructors were from India - and their Indian degrees were perfectly sufficient to gain them academic employment here (Canada.) Your statement is obviously not research-based. Not very open-minded, either. RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - Alpha - 02-11-2021 I think it would be good to know more about the Indian higher education system. All I really know is that there is a huge number of universities, many carrying the name of the city in which they operate. I know there is some distance learning (IGNOU) but I've never met anyone who could really explain the organization of the system, how the schools are connected, specializations within sectors, etc. I know there are some private schools but most are publicly funded. Some are international like Amity and Don Bosco and many restrict their admissions. Are there any Amity grads around on this forum? RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - Cofffeee - 02-11-2021 Graduates from reputable Indian institutions are very competitive and capable on the international market. So dont underestimate their education By the way Amity has Masters degree in the same field. Its approximately the same amount if i am not mistaken and last for 2 years RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - nyvrem - 02-11-2021 every time someone mentions Indian Universities, i always think of this IIT program. https://onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in/ RE: University of London has stop offering their 6k pounds IT degrees - Johann - 02-11-2021 (02-11-2021, 08:19 PM)nyvrem Wrote: every time someone mentions Indian Universities, i always think of this IIT program. Yes - the IITs are considered among the very top Indian schools. I'm taking a distance course right now and the prof. is from an IIT faculty. Really knows his stuff. It's a stretch (a good one) to keep up with him. |
