IC American Government - Pancake123 - 01-04-2021

Greetings.

First post on the Forum - yay!

I'm enrolled at TESU. Putting my degree plan into hyperspeed to meet the March 1st transcript due date. I need the following to complete the AA in Liberal Studies at TESU.

Civil Engagement Credits - 3
Quantitative Literacy - 3 (Sophia, Algebra)
Info Literacy - 3 (TESU SOS110)

For the Civil Engagement, I started Study.com Political Science, and I'm finding the layout and course design to be very challenging. I've passed CLEP exams, StraighterLine courses, and other Sophia courses; however, Study.com is really difficult from a user perspective.

I'm considering switching over to Instant Cert American Government. Has anyone taken this? How was it, and how long would you say it took you to complete? Any idea if it will transfer to TESU? I know I need to check with my advisor, just feeling really done with study and ready to make the switch tonight.

Thank you.

Neither "Political Science 101: Intro to Political Science" nor "Political Science 102: American Government" fulfill TESU's Civil Engagement requirement. However, "Political Science 103: Comparative Politics" should work because TESU brings it in as "POS-282 Intro to Comparative Politics" and that IS a class that fills that role.

SDC is different but it's not really difficult once you understand how it works. If you have any questions about how it works, feel free to ask them. That said, yes, InstantCert's course still transfers in to fill the slot (as far as we know). https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/InstantCert.com

This is super helpful. Any other suggestions on how to fulfill the Civic Engagement credits with TESU?

If you like StraighterLine, their American Government course should work, AFAIK. https://www.straighterline.com/colleges/thomas-edison-state-university/course-equivalency/

Thank you rachel83az. You saved me  Angel  I was taking the wrong political science course with study.com Based on you suggestion to give the layout a try until I get used to it, that I'll keep going with it for now.

I would also suggest that you read https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Study.com#Course_Structure to understand how to make the most out of SDC because it's not immediately obvious to everyone.
