BSBA Computer Info Technology - rlstrick06 - 12-30-2020

Well after reading advice on my previous threads and since I work in Information Technology, I am switching my degree plans.

I have attached the plan below and am looking for class options for what I have left in the Computer Info Sys section.

Thanks in advance for the help and Thanks for leading me in this better direction.

Randy

For your GE requirements, you can fill those out with Sophia courses - see https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_General_Education_Requirements_Roadmap . For the AOS, you can do SDC courses - see https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_BSBA_CIS_Degree_Plan

Study.com you need for UL CIS concentration:
Systems Analysis & Design 302

Then pick 2:
Database Management 303
Management Information Systems 303
Digital Marketing & Advertising 309

Something looks off on your evaluation.
The free electives you have:
Healthy Living HEA-106
Micro Project CIS-299
(they should be moved to general electives)

And the General Electives should include:
PC Mgt Maintenance CIS-299
Data Comm/Networks CAP-190

That leaves you .5 credits short of fulfilling General electives.

I approve! Err, I agree, the CIS is a natural fit for this degree plan... but I wouldn't want to waste the Finance since you have a few courses already.  If you're strapped for cash, energy, and time, then yes a BSBA CIS or the GM would be fine, if you have slightly more of each, then having a second AOS of Finance would be possible.  At the end of the day though, it's just a BSBA with a concentration or focus in something, your major still is Business Administration.

The free electives you have:
Healthy Living HEA-106 - HEA prefix is generally not considered a GE course, this definitely is not
Micro Project CIS-299 - not considered a GE course (this is applied rather than theory)
(they should be moved to general electives)

And the General Electives should include:
PC Mgt Maintenance CIS-299- not considered a GE course (this is applied rather than theory)
Data Comm/Networks CAP-190 - CAP prefix  is generally not considered a GE course
That leaves you .5 credits short of fulfilling General electives.

So, for GE, you're going to need Sophia or Study.com since you'll have to sign up there to get your major done.

Then, do the CIS courses as shown above in LevelUP's post.

Also, since you have 3 FIN courses already (and 1 is UL), you could also consider that (choose 3):
FIN 301: Corporate Finance (FIN-311)
FIN 303: Financial Institutions & Markets (FIN-331)
FIN 304: Security Analysis & Portfolio Management (FIN-321)
FIN 306: Small Business Finance (FIN-314)

And of course you have 3 courses that could work in the General Management concentration, although that's not my favorite, you could choose 3 UL courses for that as well.  That should use Int'l Finance (FIN-334), Account Foundations II (ACC-199) and Leadership (HRM-215, which comes in as a MAN course) and then you can take 3 courses from a variety of areas since you have 3 out of 4 already covered.

Applied vs theory, hmm.

I was wondering why TESU didn't at least add those CIS courses to the General Electives.

Oh well, GE courses shouldn't take that long to do.  Just do some Sophia ones.
