Coopersmith Chemistry - ROYISAGIRL - 12-14-2020

I have yet to see a post about this. Coopersmith's Chemistry comes in as General Chemistry I. I believe it's the only alternative credit that comes in as that.

It's CHE-111 General Chemistry I.

Much easier if you say the course equivalency number.

Too bad, they changed the StraighterLine equivalency recently. When I did the StraighterLine course, it came in as CHE-111 General Chemistry I. I would have recommended them for it if they didn't get downgraded. I'm still sad that they got rid of Physics II and some other courses I wanted to take with them, that was way back in like 2015 or earlier...

TEL Learning's Chemistry (with or without lab) should probably also come in as General Chemistry I as well, at least when transcripted through Lane College.

I thought I read on another post how they transcripted it, it's considered RA credit. I maybe wrong. So far as alternative credit (ACE/NCCRS) Coopersmith is the only one. For RA there's ASU's Chemistry for Engineers which comes in as General Chemistry I w/ lab and maybe TEL learning.

RE: Coopersmith Chemistry - rachel83az - 12-15-2020

TEL Learning does come in as RA credit. But it occupies a weird nebulous area (along with Outlier and Westcott) where it's kind of both RA and alt credit as far as how much you pay and how you take the courses.

ASU EA chemistry really should not be taken by anyone unless you already have more than a passing familiarity with chemistry. It should (IMO) be the ONLY course you take, too. There are just so many videos and activities to get through that it's not possible to do so if you're taking other classes and/or you haven't already gone through something like Khan Academy chemistry/physics beforehand.

RE: Coopersmith Chemistry - JWells247 - 03-23-2021

I may be late but I did not know that both Chemistry classes on Study.com were downgraded on the equivalency chart:
Chemistry 111L: Chemistry I with Lab = TESU CHE-101 : General Chemistry 1 With Lab
Chemistry 112L: Chemistry II with Lab = TESU CHE-101 : General Chemistry

And they both come in the same? Is this a mistake?

*Scratches head*

TESU can be strange about its equivalencies.

So in regards to fulfilling the General Chemistry (CHE-121) requirement at TESU there are no ACE/NCCRS choices left? Correct?
