New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - ashkir - 12-08-2020 Looks like there's a brand new Sophia.org course called Communication at Work! https://www.sophia.org/spcc/communication-at-work Gonna try it out. RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - innen_oda - 12-08-2020 Oooh, very nice. Wonder what it'll likely transfer into. For TESU, the most closely related one I can see is upper level (Business Communications, COM300), but Sophia are all lower level. Maybe Technical Writing (ENG201)? RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - Dorothy44 - 12-08-2020 I have been checking Sophia once a week for new courses. I wonder if that would work for Business Communications?? I am curious why it is only accepted by 2 partners?? (TESU is not one of them.) Update: I guess it will not if Business Communications is UL. I did not realize because 2 of my kids took it on Saylor, and TESU accepted it. Too new, I'd guess. Once someone attempts a transfer, or TESU formally confirms they'll accept it as equivalent to <course>, Sophia would then be able to list TESU, I'd assume. The partners listed are the colleges owned by the parent company of Sophia. This is a brand new course. Over time, more colleges will be listed. Just because a school isn't listed as a partner doesn't mean that they won't accept the course. RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - ashkir - 12-08-2020 Yeah I checked the ACE guide not listed yet for credit. RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - ss20ts - 12-08-2020 Assessments & Grading This is a pass/fail course. You must complete 12 Challenge assessments (these are like quizzes), 3 Milestone assessments (these are like tests), and 1 Touchstone assessment (this is a written assignment) with an overall score of 70% or better. Pass/fail course? A Touchstone....yay....eye roll.....LOL RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - ashkir - 12-08-2020 The Touchstone seems to be email templates... So it doesn't look that bad honestly. but with my past experience with touchstones? yeaaah RE: New Sophia Course - Communication at Work - LevelUP - 12-08-2020 (12-08-2020, 06:13 PM)Dorothy44 Wrote: I have been checking Sophia once a week for new courses. Mine was lower level from SL. Business/Society same thing, UL/LL doesn't matter. We'll see what this comes in as. My daughter took about 30 credits with Sophia, and the only problem ones she had was the English which she CLEP'ed super easily! |
