UMPI OPEN to International Students! - ss20ts - 12-04-2020 Today I spoke with the YourPace admissions counselor from UMPI which I attend. UMPI DOES accept international students! The application is free. Your transcripts need to be submitted through WES. YourPace is their competency based online program. RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - bjcheung77 - 12-04-2020 Brandman is another option for International Students, there are few competency based degree providers that do... I would also look at the Big 3 and if they have time, check out the Wiki to see if there are any other schools that readily accept international students. RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - Cofffeee - 12-06-2020 Most of Universities accept international students including competency based programms. Its harder to find Universities which dont accept them RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - ss20ts - 12-06-2020 (12-06-2020, 04:20 PM)Cofffeee Wrote: Most of Universities accept international students including competency based programms. All non-US residents are not allowed. Texas A&M University-Commerce and Snow College accept international students but they will charge three times the tuition for non-US residents. RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - Cofffeee - 12-06-2020 Yes its 3 out of how many? There's probably around a dozen programs. There's not a ton of CBE programs out there. Some schools offer only one degree in a CBE format. Very few colleges and universities offer CBE programs. WGU is the largest and they do not accept international students. They weren't even accepting students from Canada, but it seems like they've made a small change to that recently. RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - msganti - 12-13-2020 Looks like there is some confusion here. An international student is one who did most of their schooling outside the USA or from non-US schools. Most international students will need to submit an educational evaluation (WES etc) for further studies at a US school. Most US schools offer their online programs to those who are physically present in the US (aka residents). Exceptions to this are schools with a "global campus" (Ex: CSU Global, UoP) or where the program specifically says it is available to students anywhere in the world (Ex: GATech MS in CS). Almost every school in the US offer their campus/online programs to International students who are already in the US, or planning to come here soon. There is a student visa (aka F1 visa) specifically for this purpose. There is a limitation for F1 visa holders on the number of credits they can take online - about 2/3rd of the credits should be taken on campus. We are specifically discussing online programs not campus programs. UMPI does NOT require international students to be in the US to take their online programs. Many schools such as WGU are not open to international students. You must be in the US to enroll at WGU. The schools with global in their name does not mean the programs are open to anyone anywhere in the world. It means the programs are online. CSU Global is not open to the entire world. RE: UMPI OPEN to International Students! - msganti - 12-13-2020 I am mostly referring to cofffeee. You may understand an "International student" as one who is not currently physically present in the USA, but the folks at the admissions office may think of it differently. FYI CSU global campus does admit foreign students who are not residents of USA: https://csuglobal.edu/about/our-university/accreditation/state-specific-authorizations Another example of the word "Global" I mentioned is the University of Arizona Global Campus (formerly Ashford University) which does admit : https://www.uagc.edu/admissions/international-admission-requirements |
