TESU BALS-Please review - SA4578 - 11-05-2020

Hello.

I received my eval from TESU, and they've got SDC Organizational Theory "under review". I was counting on this for UL, and regardless that it's still on the SDC website and ACE recommended, the advisor told me that it likely will come back as LL. I'm not happy about this.

I'm wasting so many credits (not included at the bottom) that I'm now wondering if I would do better with COSC? I have a PMP, and I believe they will award 9 SH in PM courses for that.

Thank you so much for your time looking at this!

RE: TESU BALS-Please review - bjcheung77 - 11-05-2020

That's a pretty good evaluation already you got there, sometimes courses retain their UL and sometimes it gets dropped, and some LL get bumped up to UL, it all depends on what ACE recommends and what TESU does with that recommendation - follow it or go with their own evaluation. It's not TESU's fault they have to follow rules... I would give them some slack for now and see what options would be workable...

As a favor for myself and others who would like to help you further, since you already have an academic evaluation, it's easier to view what's needed/remaining by copy/pasting your evaluation or pasting it into a pdf or having a screenshot, so we can quickly look at it and give you a prompter reply... Last but not least, One thing to note, if you go COSC, it maybe cheaper, but the headache of getting 30 UL credits vs 18 at TESU may NOT be worth it...

RE: TESU BALS-Please review - bjcheung77 - 11-05-2020

OMG! My goodness! Girlfriend, you're so close and it's so easy to finish!  Here are my recommendations:
Email TESU academic advising just to make sure these following sets are all coming in as LL/UL and transferable...
TWO Business courses at Davar is just $99 for both and +15 proctor fee/course
This is the cheapest, easiest, and fastest way you can get the UL requirements for graduation.

Your missing BALS No Concentration AOS requirements can be completed with this:
TEEX Death Investigation - UL $75 (you already have this babe!)
Davar Business Ethics - TESU 384 PHIL - UL
Davar MIS - TESU 301 MIS UL
Davar Organizational Behavior - TESU MAN 311 UL
Davar Managerial Communications - TESU MAN 373 UL

Now you need 3 general education electives that can be in any liberal arts/sciences, since you already have Sophia.org courses, complete anything that hasn't been done already that doesn't duplicate what you have.  If nothing, then do the TEEX Property Tech and Fingerprint for 3 credits each, and do the CSM Learn course to finish off the courses (all 3 are non-proctored, so use a second monitor for multi-tasking).  You're left with the Cornerstone/Capstone to be done together!

Wow thank you!

Ok so I am a little confused about the Davar courses. Don’t the 2 MAN come in as business?

Also, I do already have CSM, but I’ll definitely look on Sophia for any that I may have missed... art ugh... Smile

The other thing is that I’m a little nervous about Sophia and Teex now that they can’t be added to ACE.

RE: TESU BALS-Please review - bjcheung77 - 11-05-2020

I wouldn't worry about that too much about Sophia.org/TEEX, they both should be updating to the Acclaim Credly badge/transcript service soon, I would assume by the end of the month they'll have the tweaks all worked out perfectly. Yes, I see you have CSM, so take the Sophia.org College Algebra since you have a Stats course already and any other courses from Sophia.org... Just crank them all out and don't worry about it for now at least...

In regards to Davar, they're NCCRS so you don't have to worry about the ACE or Acclaim/Credly issue. One thing many people don't know is that some business courses are interchangeable with Liberal Arts, it's the content taught. The ones I provided can be used to hit requirements in both a BA Liberal Arts and/or a BS Business Admin, but as I mentioned, to be safe, email Academic Advising asking to have these verified as Upper Level and transferable...

RE: TESU BALS-Please review - dfrecore - 11-06-2020

Just an FYI - I find the whole cutting & pasting of the eval with all of the superfluous info incredibly difficult to read through.  I much prefer it in the first post.  BUT, either way you do it, you should format it so that it's incredibly easy to read, to get better help.  I do degree plans and evaluations on a daily basis (I've done 2000+ degree plans), and I look at this mess and think OMG, there's no way I can figure this out.

You should always sort it by where you got the credit, and include how many credits you got.  You left that off the first post.

For TESU, you need 3 GE's and 3 UL BALS courses.

If you want to do Sophia:
Public Speaking
College Algebra
Intro to Ethics
Art History I
Art History II
Human Biology

You could also do Study.com, lots of options there that you might like more than Davar.  I for instance, might choose (because I like History):
HIS 108: History of the Vietnam War (LL GE)
HIS 308: Causes & Effects of the Vietnam War (UL BALS)
HIS 106: The Civil War & Reconstruction (LL GE)
HIS 306: The American Civil War Era (UL BALS)
HIS 311: The Holocaust and WWII (UL BALS)
HIS 105: US History from Settlement to Present Day (LL GE)

But with Study.com, you have SO many more options to fit what you like.

I show you with 8 courses to complete - 6 + cornerstone & capstone

=========================================================================

I'd also apply to COSC with your PMP, and look at that, because it might be cheaper.  And the same amount of time.

1) The PMP should give you 9cr of UL Business, combined with the UL Org Theory course, Macro & Microecon, and Conflict Resolution and that's 12cr UL/9cr LL in Business, which could be 1 concentration.

2) You need a lab science, if you don't already have one (A&P I can't tell).  There are some inexpensive options available.

3) You need a Public speaking course, easy to get (unless Interpersonal Comm will work in there, not sure)

4) You need an Ethics course (COSC won't use the ones you have) so you could do SDC's UL BUS 310: Advanced Business Ethics for it to kill 2 birds with 1 stone (UL and Ethics requirement)

5) Get the remaining LL ethics courses at SDC to fill your concentration, and finish your credits - your 2nd concentration is right there easy to get

6) Now just take 3 more UL courses in whatever you want that will work in the BALS (Psych, History, Comm, whatever)

I think for COSC you're at 9 courses needed + cornerstone & capstone (so 11).

============================================================================

Now, you compare the cost to finish off your courses at each school, and the cost at each school, to get the total price remaining.

RE: TESU BALS-Please review - P226mem - 11-06-2020

question:
dfrecore listed HIS 308: Causes & Effects of the Vietnam War (UL BALS)

but on the SDC transfer guide it is confusing. Says TESU will bring it in as HIS 351, but for LL? what's current? or what is the not obvious info? thanks

Thank you! That’s really very helpful. I’ve not taken Davar yet, and SDC is familiar. I’m a little nervous about transferability after the recent experience with the Org Theory... but I do like history too.

My apologies for the formatting. I wanted to make it easy, and ended up complicating it. Lesson learned.

So will COSC accept the SDC presentations in the workplace? This was what I used to fulfill the requirement at TESU.

Thanks again!
