They can't award ACE credit - only ACE can do that, and you can check the ACE database to see if they are listed. The only ACE-recommended course through Google is the IT Support Professional Cert, for 12cr. RE: Coursera Freebies - Pro Certs until 11/19/2020 - rachel83az - 11-03-2020 Although the IT support certificate is recommended for 12 credits, it's only 3 credits at TESU, unfortunately. RE: Coursera Freebies - Pro Certs until 11/19/2020 - nomaduser - 11-03-2020 I think many of Google's coursera professional certificate programs deserve ACE credits. Please request Google to add ACE credits for their courses. They totally deserve 3 lower-division computer science credits. The main reason why Google pushed for the Google IT support professional cert get college credit recommendation from ACE is that Google pushed for it to become part of the IT curriculum at dozens of community colleges around the country. I don't see see Google making those same efforts for their other Coursera classes. You're welcome to ask Google yourself though. RE: Coursera Freebies - Pro Certs until 11/19/2020 - rachel83az - 11-03-2020 Honestly, I don't think the Google IT certificate is worth the 12 credits ACE recommends. The 3 that TESU awards is a bit low. Maybe 6 would be fair? Anyway, I'm not sure that being able to fill out your entire IT/CS concentration with Google certificates would be good. They're okay (based on the IT professional one) but they're not great. |
