LIB-495 Capstone textbook - Lacedonia4 - 08-06-2020

Has anyone noticed the price on amazon for the hardcopy of the textbook required for LIB-495?
Is it a typo? Why so expensive?
I planned to rent the kindle edition anyway but what's up with that price? Is it the same at TESU bookstore?

What’s the name of the book? Have you tried looking on thriftbooks? I can usually find my textbooks there for dirt cheap.

wow. 800-900 for the print version. I've heard some amazon sellers do that as a place holder to make sure they are still a seller but that no one would actually buy the specific item. The price for 180 day rental from the link in the capstone syllabus is about 25 dollars for this e book. I don't know if there is a printed version easy to find. thanks for heads up

Writing Research Papers by James D Lester. Pearson publishing. Latest edition (16th?) I just rented it for $24 til February. I would have liked to have a used hardcopy but really it costs as much as the course. Even if the price is there as placeholder, people are allowed to buy it, doing so at an unrealistic price is dishonest towards buyers.

Honestly just rent it online.

I'm in the capstone right now and I feel you could get by without it, you skim through it and most of the times it's not that helpful.

I skimmed it in the first modules but never used it again. You can find all the same advice online for how to research, organize, and not plagiarize.

That is what I did, I know I could easily go without textbook too, plus I have one old advanced writing textbook from a different course that has about just same content and suggestions, the point I am making is the fact that the textbook is posted at such a high price on amazon, just hope some students do not truly spend that much for that book, just the thought of it makes me sad.

Will the assignments are based on book or generic topic?

RE: LIB-495 Capstone textbook - bjcheung77 - 08-07-2020

Yes, I highly recommend renting online whenever possible, especially since most rentals are for 90-120 days, it's enough time to get the course wrapped up at a much cheaper price point than buying a used book or new-then you'll have to sell it again to recoup the cost later.
