Sophia Business Law Done - cecilgambe7 - 08-05-2020

I just passed Sophia Business Law new course.

You can see my review in the official course review post: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-The-official-guide-to-courses-by-Straighterline-Study-et-al-We-want-YOUR-input

Because it is one of the new courses I also wanted to write here.

It is a nice course, not as boring as I expected,

The course involves an assignment that is to write a paper of at least 750 words, you have to put two academic citations. While the task is not difficult, citing two legal papers can be difficult for most, especially because the course does not give you tools in this regard. Anyway the assignment grade is "generous".

The course is not difficult.

The paper definitely has me concerned. How did you find the sources to cite? What did you finally wind up citing (website/research paper/legal codes)?

I am actually pretty involved in research, so getting a paper is not an issue for me, anyway, it is the first time i cite something related to law.

You can use google academics in order to find any paper that is related to you issue. You can also search for academic books in order to usa as citation.

I've actually had pretty bad luck using Google Scholar. When I find papers that seem relevant, I only get the abstract and have a hard time finding the same thing on EBSCO . It's pretty frustrating. Maybe I'm just bad at using Google Scholar.

This is big issue when you have no access to resarch, but anyway don't be so strict with this assignment, even if you found a relevant absctract wihout full access to the paper, then use it.

Its a norm. Its another obstacle to those who are restricted by amount they can spend on education. You really struggle to get free access to quality research papers. Its a mission in itself.

You can just search by the DOI on sci-hub.tw. I train high school student-researchers, and this is actually one of our main methods to access full papers for literature reviews. An alternative can be Researchgate.net, since you can directly message the authors to request access, but I've found this to be a slow process.

My public library gives me free online access to "Gale Academic Onefile". It's been plenty for my essays so far with SDC and 100/200 level community college. Maybe your local or state online public library has similar access? I get a little more than just abstracts for some papers. Not sure how well it would work with sophia course, but wanted to suggest a possible place to search. All states and cities have different library systems of course. But can't hurt to look for what's available.
