Excelsior National Security Help - Final Stages - BBryant165 - 07-22-2020
Hi Everyone,
I am in the final stages of completing my degree with Excelsior College in National Security. I have been able to successfully meet the large majority of the requirements with a combination of military training from JST, community college credit based on military training, and sophia learning for the remaining general education requirements that were not in my Associates degree program. I have listed out my current credit below (degree requirements .JPG attached).
Now with where I could use assistance. The BNS degree with Excelsior requires 21 UL Arts & Sciences, I still have 12 credits in the Major to complete that will reduce that number. This leaves me with 9 credits in UL A&S that I need to fill to meet all the requirements minus those i need to take with the school. I planned to take these through SDC however, when talking to my academic advisor the courses I requested (Business 313: Organizational Communication; Criminal Justice 306: Research Methods in Criminal Justice; History 309: War & American Society: History 307: The American Civil Rights Movement; History 311: The Holocaust & WWII) All come in as LL credit with the exception of BUS313 which is a COMM credit I already have through the military.
My question: Does anyone know of specific courses I can send to my academic advisor for approval with Excelsior that are UL Arts & Sciences (preferably ACE or NCCRS recommended) through study.com or another platform that are Cheap/Free and Online (proctored or unproctored)?

TEEX Death Investigation Online is ACE-approved for 3 UL credits, and it's a bargain at $75.00, including all course materials. I imagine you can work that into a National Security degree program.
You could probably use Organizational Behavior from Davar Academy as well. That's $80 (plus $15 for ProctorNow), and it came in at EC as 4 UL Science credits for me. Plus, if you like/need any other Davar business courses, the price drops even further, 2 courses for $99.

I completed the following DAU (Defense Acquistion University) courses. I had them added to my ACE account and submitted them to Excelsior and this is what they came back evaluated as:
ACQ 160 - Program Protection Planning Awareness (DAU 298) - 2 UL Project Management
CMC 100 - Contract Administration Fundaments (DAU 0288) - 1 UL Contract Management
CON 100 - Shaping Smart Business Arrangements (DAU 0145) 2 UL Public Management
CON 200 - Business Decisions for Contracting (DAU 0252) - 2 UL Material Management
PMT 355 - Program Management Office Course, Part A (DAU 275) - 3 UL Operations Management
RQM 110 - Core Concepts for Requirements Management (DAU 0256) - 1 UL Acquisition Management

Before signing up for this course Business 313: Organizational Communication, get it in writing from EC that is will come in as a liberal arts elective. It's a business course and they may not give it liberal art credit.

I completed ACQ 160 and PMT355 from DAU. Unfortunately I am looking for Arts and Science specific courses. I added these to my ACE Transcript and unfortunately they were not added towards my degree requirements
. Did you speak with your advisor about having these fit into the A&S portion of your MAP? Thanks!! I've been using the TEEX system to earn some credits paid for by DHS/FEMA but generally those are lower level. I'm going to ask my advisor about this tomorrow, since its approved by ACE as a criminal justice credit I'm sure I can fit it in under Humanities somewhere.
This is the exact type response I was looking for, things under $100 I can run past my advisor prior to purchase.
