EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - cecilgambe7 - 06-11-2020 I am still considering my options, and with the news about COSC, as international student im considering a NA instead a RA... but i still want to explore the chance of moving to EC. Oral speaking is a big issue for me as non-english native, i can do the course and send the videos of me talking, but it could be the hardest course for me due to the video part. As i heard (i need confirmation about this but i am pretty sure) the SDC Public Speaking course dont need to talk or send any video, it is based in communication theory... but some universities don't accepts this course as a course that fit the Oral Communication request... COSC don't; my question is if EC accepts this course as Oral communication. RE: EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - ctcarl - 06-11-2020 For whatever it may be worth, I recently completed Sophia's Public Speaking, and it was accepted by EC as "Public Speaking" for 3 LL credits. Right now, the Sophia course is completely free, and it consists of recording yourself giving two presentations of approximately 500 words on a subject of your own choice; a draft or intial speech, and an updated one based on input provided by a Sophia instructor. I found the grading to be very fair, and as a student with extensive experience of Sophia, I am confident that they will be tolerant of any issues encountered by a non-native English speaker. I haven't taken SDC Public Speaking, but as I understand it, there are a battery of quizzes, three speeches (one each of Informative, Persuasive, and Special Occasion, meaning three separate projects) and a final, proctored exam. If there is a reason to take SDC Public Speaking over Sophia, I haven't found it yet. Thanks for your feedback... Maybe i am wrong with SDC non-recrod/non-speech, maybe it is SL oral communication the one that is non-record/non-speech course?? RE: EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - P226mem - 06-11-2020 It could be SDC Com 120 presentation skills in the workplace that you are thinking of. SDC to EC transfer guide says "humanities". If I recall without researching it, EC does not have a speech requirement in some of the degree plans. I've heard TESU counts it as oral communication general requirement and that may be what you are remembering. RE: EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - dfrecore - 06-11-2020 EC does not require you to take Public Speaking at all, so you don't have to do any of those. It is not a requisite for BSBA?? Not sure what a BSBA is. Do you mean a BS in Business? That's what Excelsior offers. Speech is not a requirement for the BS in Business or the BS in Liberal Arts. Their requirements are on their website. https://www.excelsior.edu/program/bachelor-of-science-in-business/ https://www.excelsior.edu/program/bachelor-of-science-online-liberal-arts-degree/ RE: EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - cecilgambe7 - 06-11-2020 (06-11-2020, 04:10 PM)ss20ts Wrote:(06-11-2020, 03:41 PM)cecilgambe7 Wrote:(06-11-2020, 02:49 PM)dfrecore Wrote: EC does not require you to take Public Speaking at all, so you don't have to do any of those. Amazing, thank you for the info; i think my brain fix the idea that every college have the same requests. Did by the way EC also ask for Science LAB course?? You will need to check that for whatever degree program you're interested in. Their catalog is on their website. http://publications.excelsior.edu/programs/Undergraduate_Catalog/ RE: EC acepts SDC Public Speaking as Oral Communication?? - dfrecore - 06-11-2020 (06-11-2020, 04:17 PM)cecilgambe7 Wrote:(06-11-2020, 04:10 PM)ss20ts Wrote:(06-11-2020, 03:41 PM)cecilgambe7 Wrote:(06-11-2020, 02:49 PM)dfrecore Wrote: EC does not require you to take Public Speaking at all, so you don't have to do any of those. No, they don't require a lab science at all. |
