Business Communication Course Help!!! - Toastmaster - 06-10-2020 Greetings everyone! I took a couple years off and now I am back to finish my final 3 classes. Public Speaking, International Management, and Business Communications. My issue is with Business Communications. I am in the 2017 Catalog still (thankfully), and during this time one could take the Managerial Communications course from Saylor.org (Which I did) and take the Business Communications course from StraighterLine and essentially knock out two birds with one stone. The Saylor course would come in as Man 373 and the SL course would come in as COM- 300. Well, apparently the way TESU takes the Business Communications course has changed. It appears to have been downgraded from COM-300 to COM-202. This appears to be the case for Study.com's version of the course as well. My question is, does it matter? I can't recall the exact reasoning for taking the Saylor and the SL courses together beyond them covering similar topics. I DO have the SL course still listed as an "approved" course in my Academic Evaluation. I do not know if this will "stick" however, if you get what I mean. Basically, I just want to confirm, if anyone still knows, of it is okay to still take a Business Communications course from either SL or Study.com. I did reach out to Academic Advising, and they were as useless as I remember. Seriously, you should see the email they sent me to my query. ??♂️ RE: Business Communication Course Help!!! - bjcheung77 - 06-11-2020 Did you do the capstone? It's missing from the courses in BOLD. Yes, I'm so curious what the email says in your inquiry to them! Also copy/paste your evaluation without your personal details, let's find out what courses can go where. Did the Saylor.org course come in as Upper Level? If it did, then you don't have to worry about the Lower Level from StraighterLine or Study.com at all. The spots are all good from what I can tell without looking at your evaluation... You can identify the ones pending from E.C.C, which is source number 2 and the pending courses from ACE, which is source number 3. All of these options had been previously planned based on prior conversations. I hope this answers your question. Saylor's course came in as UL, so the SL course can be LL. Keep up the good work, you're already there. And I noticed you did your Capstone JUN17, LOL... that must have been the TECEP as I did the TECEP then as well! I didn't need to as I transferred 3 others from Penn Foster, but I wanted to lock in my second BA's degree catalog year and have enrollment extended. I did it literally on the LAST DAY it was available, at like the last hour lol. I was so nervous. Whew! RE: Business Communication Course Help!!! - LevelUP - 06-11-2020 Study.com's Communications 120: Presentation Skills in the Workplace everyone here says is really fast and easy, no speeches. My experience with Business 120: International Business from Study.com is that it is pretty easy almost like an Intro to Biz course. Business Communications I took at SL and got it done in less than 20 hours. The first thing I did was go through all the lessons/exams. Then I just did all the papers at once and handed them in for final review, no drafts. They aren't super picky on grading those papers as long as you follow the instructions. The final there no open book but doesn't matter too much as it only counts for 30% of your grade. Questions were pretty basic and straightforward, unlike other courses. RE: Business Communication Course Help!!! - Edriveless - 06-12-2020 Can someone confirm if SDC's Communications 120: Presentation Skills in the Workplace satisfies the the BSBA Core "Communication" requirement. I do not need a UL for this. Or I need this from SDC: Business 113: Business Communication |
