Australian/European levels of education - EQF, RQF, SCQF. - bjcheung77 - 05-03-2020

I've been looking at Australian/European schools lately for possible graduate diploma or Masters level and higher credentials, some of them are pretty affordable, have great educational content/emphasis on what I want to focus on, or can be completed relatively quickly (18-24 months).

There are so many levels of higher education and different frameworks within Europe, it's somewhat hard to distinguish between them.
The main programs from partnership institutions i'm researching are all in the EQF/RQF level 6, 7 or 8 range.

I find it interesting that some levels overlap in different frameworks, for example, if you look at International Equivalence, the EQF level 5 can be either a Level 4 or 5 in the RQF.  And for SCQF Level 11, it could be qualified as a Masters OR Post Grad Diploma depending on the amount of credits.

For Reed Discounted Courses: You can search whichever level QF you would like to get (such as Level 6,7,8)

Note: The Reed discount courses really attracted me to the European union framework of courses, as they offer a significant discount.

The free courses at Reed, at least some of them, don't appear to be geo-restricted. I signed up using a US IP and it never asked me for a location. I have not signed up for any individual course, however, so I don't know what happens then.

I personally appreciate the Aussie AQF. I think it's a superior schema than what we have here in the United States. In particular, I think the diploma levels are a great idea for those that are not uni bound, but still want to prepare for a career. I also like how they structure the credential path in my field (accounting), as a professional development program, rather than a university degree program (although both can be had in parallel).

A young relative recently obtained her master's degree in England. Not only did she obtain it more quickly than if she had taken it in the US, even with travel, living expenses, etc., it was less expensive than any of the master's degrees she was looking at in the U.S.

I find the UK system very confusing. I'm looking at taking a couple of courses at The Open College of the Arts, which is somehow affiliated with The Open University (Middle States Accredited). Are HE4 courses transferable to a US University? It seems like it should be but maybe the cut off is HE5?.

Is it expensive to transfer credits from the UK to US?

Its also good for respecializing. They recently added UG Certificates to the same level as a standard Diploma so workers can upskill and start a new career.
