Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - ctcarl - 04-29-2020 Hello all, I'm trying to bang out as many UL courses as possible during the pandemic. I've used Davar for ENG103 Info Lit and plan to take my UL business courses from them, but I'm looking at Coopersmith for three or four Psych courses. I signed up for PSY-302 Abnormal Psych and ordered the textbook, which I'm waiting for. In the meantime, I'd like to take PSY-310 Foundations of Stress Management, and I'm looking hard at PSY-305 Drugs, Society, and Human Behavior. Curious about PSY-340 Sport and Exercise Psychology, as well as their various counseling courses. If anybody has any experience with their UL courses, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks! RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - dfrecore - 04-29-2020 What school do you plan on sending them to? FYI, COSC has said they won't take them. But if you're taking them to TESU or EC, you're probably fine. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - darthweezy - 04-29-2020 I took all of the courses you mentioned. The only thing needed would be the PowerPoint. All of the questions on the final are very similar to the PowerPoint. I highly recommend Coopersmith. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? I know that at least Foundations of Stress Management is multiple choice only and some have 5 or 8 short essay questions. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? That one has a few 3-5 sentence questions and not as many multiple choice questions. The rest of them are all multiple choice if I remember correctly 100 questions each. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - bjcheung77 - 04-30-2020 CtCarl, if you can get past English 101, 102 and your extra Info Lit courses, the Davar courses with essay type questions wouldn't be an issue at all... they're not an obstacle as the requirements usually are very short answers, a few sentences should work for those just fine. You're almost there, just a few upper level courses and you're done! RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - ctcarl - 04-30-2020 Thanks, darthweezy, I appreciate the feedback. I appreciate the encouragement as always, BJ. I'm not overly concerned about PSY-302 or PSY-310, or the short-essay answers for that matter. I'm guessing they'll be not unlike the Davar Info Lit 30/4 exam, which I had no trouble with. It's really more about getting some help choosing a few more UL Coopersmith Psych exams. I have read a couple of comments about their content, one, for example, from a forum member here who suggested that their History and Systems of Psych exam was not aligned well with the materials. The course materials do seem a bit inconsistent to me so far, in that some have narrated PPT decks and decent video materials, where others don't. Some courses allow you to d/l the materials in pdf form, while others force you to browse the materials online through a clunky LMS interface while logged in to the Coopersmith website. I've been buying books, but some folks suggest they aren't necessary, and that the study guides are sufficient on their own. If that's true, it'll save me some time which I've been spending waiting for books to arrive. As you know, I'm trying to keep up my momentum. So I'm just trying to select my courses wisely, now that I've burned through Sophia's offerings and I have to pay for them. Thanks again! RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - darthweezy - 05-01-2020 I can speak for these three that you mentioned but would think all of their courses are roughly the same, PSY-310 Foundations of Stress Management, PSY-305 Drugs, Society, and PSY-340 Sport and Exercise Psychology. For these three the PowerPoint review aligns 100% with test. The questions aren't exact from the review but the underlying question/statement is. In my opinion no other study material would be needed other than what they provide for free with the course. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Yes, I just completed PSY-310 and I agree, the shorter "study guide" PPT deck was well targeted. I didn't buy the book for this course and I had no trouble with the exam. I will definitely be taking the others once I can get confirmation from EC that they're all accepted as UL. RE: Taken Coopersmith's UL courses? Please sound off! - bjcheung77 - 05-01-2020 Yes, that's exactly what you should do, before taking the UL courses from Coopersmith/Davar, submit it for pre-approval and make sure it's UL with Excelsior College. Once they say it is OK for transfer, study the presentations and materials provided, then complete the final exam for grading. |
