TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - TroopsterX - 03-10-2020 Hey guys, I'm getting closer and closer to completing my BA in Criminal Justice (TESU) with currently having 85 credits on my TESU transcript. The main concern that I have however is related to AOS upper level classes. I thought I had it all figured out with Study.com courses but seems like one of those counts for upper level course. Here are the classes that I need to find equivalent courses for: Research Methods: SOS-492 Research Methods in Social Sciences AOJ Ethics: PHI-383 Ethical Issues in Criminal Justice AOS Electives: only need 1x UL class In total I need 12 UL credits to knock these off. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks! RE: TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - bjcheung77 - 03-10-2020 TroopsterX, you should get the remainder of your general education and free electives completed first with Straighterline and Study.com or Sophia.org by seeing what you are missing from the requirements on their webpage. You want to compare these requirements with the next wiki link below. Link: https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/ba/criminal-justice Now, after all the courses that you can complete from those providers have been done, you will need to finish off the AOS with courses not available through them. You should review how this forum member did his degree and note down the ACE expiration dates before you take these courses. I reviewed the link you provided but upon checking them on ACE website, it seems like almost all UL courses are listed as lower level courses (for example Propero aka Pearson) Date range is from 2017-2020 and considering the fact that this forum member posted his degree plan in 2018, I'm not sure what changed. They are expiring in July 2020 and it's plenty of time to get them done, but I don't know how to navigate this going further. Any thoughts? Thanks RE: TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - bjcheung77 - 03-10-2020 TrooperX, you should list all the courses you have completed or better yet, copy/paste your evaluation so we know what courses you have taken and what is missing. We can give you recommendations but without knowing that, we could be telling you to take courses you already have. Yes, the courses have gone through a bit of an alignment change after TESU/ACE modified the LL/UL on those courses... so...since you need just 1 UL AOS credit, ta-da, my favorite course! Wait for it.... TEEX Death Investigation for 75$ non proctored goodness! Get all the AOJ courses you can from Study.com and/or TEEX, some are 3 credits for $45. Transfer them all in and see what is left... Basically, I think the remaining UL can be in anything, you have TWO UL AOJ courses (TEEX/Study.com), the Capstone, and you are missing 3 more courses for a total of 18 credits needed. Do you have tuition assistance/reimbursement? I meant to say above that I will need only 1 UL class - specifically in electives since I already have one sitting there. Out of 15 UL's I have only 3cr - through TEEX. (12UL's needed) Thanks to Death Investigation I did all of TEEX courses except Fingerprint Foundation which I'm about to finish. I am attaching my current evaluation here so please review it whenever you get a chance. I have to note that I have additionally earned 12 credits since this evaluation, so ENG 102 and rest of electives will be completed with those courses. Main focus right now is AOS and your help will be much appreciated Thank you Oh forgot to add that Study.com offers Criminal Justice 305: The Juvenile Justice System and it is UL!! so technically I need to be searching for 9cr UL's RE: TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - bjcheung77 - 03-10-2020 Really?! For some reason or another, I knew you had exactly those missing courses (yes, I did read the first post). And that lead to my last post with this question: Do you have tuition assistance/reimbursement? As my "credit matrix" doesn't have much UL AOJ course alternatives, this is what I was thinking. If you have tuition assistance/reimbursement, you can take 5 courses from TESU, 4 UL to hit the requirements and the Capstone. You can then take a 1 credit courses for 16 credits, that will save you the residency waiver fee. If you wouldn't mind taking courses at another Univ with cheaper tuition, that might be the only option, did you check Penn Foster when you searched the ACE credit registry? Another person on here with a "larger credit matrix file" would be, dfrecore. I would suggest you pm her asking for advice and link her to this thread... she'll most likely see this thread, but just in case. I don't have tuition assistance/reimbursement so if I take those courses from TESU I will be paying out of my pocket. Not sure if financial aid will cover anything though.. I literally was searching through Penn Foster few minutes ago and came across Administration of Justice course which is the only UL course in CJ section. I think that course can be applied to my AOS, but I will double check with TESU anyways. If that's the case - theoretically I will need to search for another 2 UL classes and get to work! I am aiming to start capstone & cornestone on May 1st to be qualified for September graduation. I hope with your great help that you guys are already providing - I will be able to step on the finish line! I'll definitely PM dfrecore . Thanks again! TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - ROYISAGIRL - 03-10-2020 Probably as a last resort for courses since its a bit more expensive than the other ace credits. Penn Foster college has a slew of CJ courses that'll probably fit. Penn Foster college has a slew of CJ courses that'll probably fit. Penn Foster and Propero both have CJ courses, but only 1 that's UL, and there's no guarantee that TESU will bring it in as UL (it's CJS400: Adminstration of Justice, and my guess is no). The least expensive option I know for UL CJ courses is CSU Pueblo Independent Studies, but they're $615/course. Not crazy expensive, but it does make the degree more expensive overall, as you'd probably need 4 more UL courses from there. But that degree is just not able to be tested out of. RE: TESU AOS UL CLASSES NEEDED - terryd5150 - 03-13-2020 CSU Global has five Criminal Justice SSAs (Self-Study Assessments) that are all listed as UL. They're $250 for each 3-credit course + a registration fee for each course (I think it's $25, but I'm not positive on that one). TESU accepts CSU Global SSAs for other degree plans, it might be worth checking if they'll accept these towards the CJ degree. https://csuglobal.edu/undergraduate/alternative-credit-options/self-study-assessments |
