Checking which test are accepted - Spiritus1ntra - 03-07-2020

I'm looking at the options for credit by examination online, and came across this on a blog from the TESU website.

"Alternative credit providers (let’s call them ACPs for short) can be either nonprofit or for-profit entities whose offerings have been evaluated by the American Council on Education and have been judged equivalent to a course of study at a college or university. Colleges and universities are not obliged to accept such credits, but most take at least some, and the Big 3 take nearly all of these ACE-approved credits.

It works like this: you take courses or tests with ACPs and open a free account with ACE. You have the ACPs send your scores to ACE, and, when you’re ready, you have ACE send your aggregated transcript to the school(s) of your choice."

this is great! I even have  a list from TESU of the 33 credits of courses that are required to complete my BA degree.
However I seem to be missing a point I'm not reading anywhere...

how do I check that the test being offered online will actually be counted by TESU once transferred??

thank you!

Aaron

There is a list of TECEP, CLEP and DSST options already listed on the link you posted - like, the English Comp II course can be taken as a DSST Exam (Advanced Comp) or TECEP (TESU's internal course). For your Ethics requirement, you can take the TECEP listed, or the DSST exams listed.

You can also look on their website:
CLEP https://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/clep-college-level-exam-program
DSST https://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/dsst

You can also take courses/exams through alternative providers like Study.com, Straighterline, Saylor, etc.
Study.com
https://www.tesu.edu/studycom (you should do this to get a discount anyway)

certainly!
I'm looking at alternative test providers for passing these courses.
My question is, how do I know which ones will be accepted?
I see several posts explaining that several different tests are no longer accepted at TESU. I am not sure how to tell which ATP will be accepted by the University. Huh

In the links dfrecore sent you are the equivalency pages for each of the providers. While it's not a guarantee it's as close as we have.
