CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - Plancked - 10-08-2019 Hi, thanks in advance for your reply. I chose to request and be admitted to the CSU IT managment/analytics. I've taken several classes and this term will be my last. What happened was I've realized no matter what the class, an essay or research paper has needed to be done for each week's lesson for each class. Even Algebra. No tests, just essays. I'm done. My question is are all online colleges like that? Do all colleges require strictly essays for turn in or are there high academic quality colleges that have tests that are a traditional question/answer/multiple choice tests along with essays. Thanks, Bob RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - iwantmydegreeplz - 10-08-2019 I'm sorry to not be able to answer your question about most colleges, but I hope you could answer a question for me! Do you take examinations to pass/fail classes? Or is everything essay based? Do you take examinations to pass/fail classes? Or is everything essay based? Hi, thus far all classes have required an essay to pass, with the exception of Algebra which had a normal pass/fail test and 8 weeks of extensive explanations quasi essay type answers. I've asked around and most I've spoken to have said that essays are a mainstay at Csuglobal. RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - Ideas - 10-08-2019 No, many who attend the "Big 3" schools do "test outs" and minimize the papers needed. Especially if you're doing a more general degree and have more flexibility when choosing classes to take. The "test out" courses are usually ACE courses, so you typically need to attend a school that takes ACE alternative credits. Test out courses are often from Study.com and Straighterline. What are the big3 colleges and do you have a recommendation with regard to my original post? RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - Ideas - 10-09-2019 Thomas Edison State University Charter Oak State College Excelsior College I think it's easiest to attend a school that takes a lot of alt credit and then take a lot of Study.com, Straighterline, CLEP, Davar, TECEP, OnlineDegree, Saylor, etc. If you don't want to take ACE/CLEP, then it depends on what kind of degree you want. IT? Management? Business? General degree? RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - Rustydroid - 10-09-2019 I'm currently taking Intermediate Accounting with TESU and so far its been all writing. We did an introduction to class then answered two introductions, then an essay about Accounting organizations that regulate Accounting then two answers to other student's essays. It looks like next week we are going to get getting into actual number crunching. I'm a bit unnerved actually because this class is supposed to be one of the tougher classes for aspiring Accountants. I think the fail rate at my local University is pretty high. When I did Financial Accounting at my local JC we briefly looked at the SEC, FASB and others. I think it was a one lecture plus homework then we quickly got into debits, credits, ratios, and different Accounts. Also I think that there are only four students in my class. So you are kind of dependent on others posting their essays so that you can respond to them. One of my fellow students was late by a few hours but thankfully the other two and myself posted our essays days before the deadline. Honestly this is one of the easier Accounting classes that I've taken so far. I can't say what the future holds though. RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - Ideas - 10-09-2019 A lot of classes have quizzes or exams. Harvard Extension School does. But a lot of online classes also have discussion boards. So generally a mix of quizzes/exams, discussion boards, and either a few papers or one final project. RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - LevelUP - 10-09-2019 TESU also has most of its classes based on essays and deadlines. Their classes very expensive and with deadlines/papers due every week, it would be hard to do a bunch in one term. RE: CSU and compulsive Essay/Research papers - dfrecore - 10-09-2019 I've not heard that most schools have this policy, so I think you're in the wrong program for what you want to do. Not sure why you're on this forum, as we spend most of our time explaining how NOT to take the "long road" that you've opted for. If you want to take the "short road," this is the place for you. if you want the long/expensive road, you're on the wrong forum. |
