TESU Academic Review - Questions - jthatcher50 - 07-23-2019 Hi all, I recently just transferred from Charter Oak State College to Thomas Edison State University due to the fact COSC did not accept all of my Study.com courses as upper level, even though I had email confirmation they would. I just received my academic review from TESU (attached) and I was startled that I need so many more credits compared to COSC. Does TESU not accept one course for multiple degree requirements, if it applies? I know I would only receive the 3 credits once, but I would like to get more requirements out of the way and have some more of my electives count that TESU did not apply to my degree. Such as also, wouldn't some of the upper level credits I took count? Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - natshar - 07-23-2019 So first of all TESU doesn't allow double-dipping. Also, the upper level they require must be in the Business AOS not the business core or gen eds. TESU only takes UL study.com as recommended by ACE. All UL study.com through Ace require assignments. I've heard COSC takes some study.com as UL that don't have assignments. But for TESU in order to UL credit, you need to do courses with assignments and make sure they are ACE recommended UL (because there are some sdc courses that assignments that aren't UL ACE) Also, TESU is 2k more the COSC. You make your own choice I just wanted you to know TESU policy. Here is study.coms official charter okay transfer equivalency. If there is an error show them the guide. https://study.com/college/school/charter-oak-state-college.html RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - jthatcher50 - 07-23-2019 That's such a bummer!! Thanks for the clarification! Cost effectiveness is why I originally applied to COSC. At the moment, CLEP and DSST testing is not convenient for me and I was hoping TESU would be a good fit due to the fact they require less UL requirements. RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - natshar - 07-23-2019 How much more do need for your degree from COSC? it looks like you are almost done. RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - allvia - 07-23-2019 Can you share how COSC has placed your credit, like you have done here for TESU? Maybe we can help you with a plan for them, or the best options for TESU. Comparing the two would allow those 'in the know' to best help you - especially since cost is a factor. In case you have not seen this thread, it is one of the most helpful in completing a COCS BSBA without CLEP - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-COSC-No-CLEP-All-Online-BSBA-Degree-Transcript RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - jthatcher50 - 07-23-2019 Thanks for sharing that link! Attaches is my COSC worksheet, I guess it isnt too far off, I forgot they didnt accept all of my Study.com courses. I have a thread going to find out the best way to finish up at COSC I am in need of the following requirements, from what I can gather, and would like suggestions as to the fastest way to get the credit (DSST and CLEP are not options anymore due to testing locations not being convenient). Oral Communication Organizational Behavior 7 Upper Level Courses (2 of those need to be in General Business AOS) As a side note, I have also taken the following Study.com courses (thinking they would transfer over as UL credit, however, COSC jus recently changed their course transfers: Business 105: Labor Relations Business 106: Human Resource Management Business 107: Organizational Behavior Business 111: Principles of Supervision Education 210: Technology in the Classroom Psychology 105: Research Methods in Psychology I have no clue as to what I need with TESC since I am really not familiar with them. I see you did post a thread specific to your COCS BSBA shortage(s) - that is here for anyone wanting to answer/guide you under that appropriate thread - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-COSC-BSBA-Course-Help RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - cookderosa - 07-23-2019 My recommendation is to build it based on what's left- not what's accepted. If College A needs 1 class that costs $2,000 but College B needs 3 classes that cost $200, then it is less money to go with College B even though you have more to do. Now, if you have more money than time, College A would be the winner - but you really have to decide if you need to save time or money, and move forward based on your goals. In every other way, TESU and COSC are essentially equal. RE: TESU Academic Review - Questions - natshar - 07-23-2019 In this case OP has about the same amount of credits left at both but COSC is 2k cheaper. Probably more due to the fact OP has already done the Charter Oak Cornerstone in 2015 at 2015 prices. |
