A Big Thank You!!! - Supermind - 06-27-2019
Hello Everyone.
I got my final Capstone grade yesterday - 100 on the final project, and an overall course grade of 98! This was the final step on my journey to a BA-LS (Psych. Concentration) + ASNSM (Math) from TESU, and I am super happy and thrilled at the way things have turned out. My birthday also falls this weekend, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate!! I already applied for graduation and paid the waiver fee almost a month ago; so I am hoping the final audit for September graduation will be done anytime soon.
I wish to take this opportunity to say a big, heartfelt thank you to the forum members here. Your timely advice, suggestions, and ideas have been indispensable for my success. Thank you very much indeed!
My journey began in September 2018. I was initially very unclear how to go about it, as I came across so many different online options: Capella, Excelsior, SNHU....I came across this forum, found valuable advice about the Big-3, and finally decided to go ahead with TESU. I had to first earn my GED. With just one week of preparation, I managed to clear all 4 GED tests on a single day (almost 8 hours of continuous testing!), and earned 10 College Ready credits through this. I found more suggestions about free credits on this forum, all of which I went on to complete. Study.com has been such a Godsend on this journey! I could complete so many courses, and also learn effectively. The degree plans posted here helped me complete the necessary courses.
I must mention that when I started, my financial situation was quite unstable. I estimated the total costs, and probably had just enough for this degree. I took the plunge hoping things would get better along the way. Increasing the costs by even a few hundred dollars would have made it very difficult for me. All along, I have felt quite uncertain and insecure if TESU would suddenly change its policies, and I might need to drop half way. Today, I am financially in a better position, but until about January 2019, it was quite difficult. This is also why I had to change my plans in December 2018 and go ahead with a BA-LS instead of a BA-Psych. Earning UL credits by completing Uexcel exams, or Coopersmith courses was proving to be financially difficult for me. I pursued every low cost credit option - Aleks, CSM Learn, Saylor etc. , which proved very helpful.
Anyway, all that is behind me now, and I am so happy to be at the finish line. I am planning to take a break for a few months, and identify some good Masters degree options to pursue next. Once again, thank you very much for helping me realise my dream of earning a college degree.

Thank you. I think this forum did 50% of the job for me. I couldn’t have identified all the necessary course options by myself. I truly believe in the saying: ‘We are always more powerful than Me.’

Doesn't it feel good to be all done with the capstone (and all the rest of your courses)? Who was your capstone mentor?

He is a wonderful mentor, and he kept the whole class engaged in the discussions, with regular feedback, comments etc. I highly recommend Prof. Cody if anyone here is taking the Lib. 495 Capstone any time soon. The only slight disappointment is that I could not get a reference letter from him for my grad school application. His policy is that he would like to meet the student face-to-face, and interact more before writing a letter. But that’s ok. I will find my way around this situation.

Congrats! You are certainly one of the quickest that I have seen on this site. Every time I would see your signature I would notice so many new credits added. You must really have a "Super Mind".
