First off, Hello Everyone!

This is my first post here. I found this site about 2 days ago and haven't been able to log off of it since! For the past couple of months I have been trying to decide the best path for my situation and overlooked anything with CLEP/DANTES..etc in the title (ignorance!) .. I am 22, I have no college experience but I do want to be a Lawyer, I am currently working as a Paralegal so I was looking for fastest way to complete an accredited degree. So I think Excelsior is my best bet!

My question is this, what CLEP/DANTES test do I need to go ahead and study/take for my core credits that will transfer to Excelsior? I would like to take Excelsiors B.A. degree. I'm sure plenty on here have taken this degree and would know the answer to this. Thanks so much in advance for your replies and I am looking forward to being another success story on here!

Before you decide on a Bachelor Degree, you might want to structure your plan backwards.

What is the LAST thing (highest step) you need to become a lawyer, and work backwards from there.

Once you have figured out each step, and the prerequisites for each lower step, then you'll have a more clear and concise path to decide which degree you want to attain.

Once that is figured out, you can see what the credit map will need to be for that degree, and then you can figure out which exams will be needed and will count toward credit.

You want to figure out where you want to end up and work back so you can figure out the best way to go about it. Pick some law schools you would like to attend and find out what their entrance requirements are. LSAT score, GPA, Degree feilds prefered and things of that nature. Will a transcript with a lot of CLEP credits that just have a P/F grade affect their decision? Sometimes it is about getting a degree fast but it is more often about getting the right degree, especially when your career requires schooling beyond just a BS or BA.

That being said, If you look at this post HERE and this one HERE you will find some helpful information. The first one is my specific plan and while it is for a Business degree I have it broken down as to what tests I am using to fulfill which current EC requirements. The second is a post from Yutzyj that gives a roadmap of what she did and some useful information. Good luck on becoming a lawyer!

ok well im further along than that. Ive already talked to Local Colleges I have planned to attend and they said coming in from Excelsior wouldnt be a problem. So All i need to figure out is my path to B.A. completion.

I downloaded the "Student Guide to Credit by Examination" from Excelsior, and the Guidelines for Major in Psychology, but here is my confusion:

It list all CLEP/DANTES test but it doesnt tell which ones transfer into another class required for the degree. Such as Psychology. If that makes sense what im asking. So how do you figure that out? Is there anyway to on there site or do you have to go thru a long process with someone at Excelsior?

I typed "Excelsior" and "Psychology" in the Search, and this came up:
