TESU CIS electives..management info systems - shendaddy - 12-20-2018

can both:
cis 201- management info systems (saylor)
and
cis-301 -management info systems (study.com)

be used as CIS electives at TESU ?

an advisor told me they weren't sure and they might be the same course ??

When courses have different course numbers like that, they should both work. It would be like taking Social Psychology and Advanced Social Psychology there (they require 2 courses in Soc Psych for the Psychology degree).

For $25, it's worth taking a shot at the Saylor exam, even if it ends up not working. But my bet is, it will.

I have CIS-201 and CIS-301 both on my TESU evaluation. (l don't think I took the 301 at Study.com, but I am not sure. Source shouldn't matter.)

The Saylor/Study.com MIS course is teaching you the same material or similar, but, because the numbering is different, one is going to be an LL course and the other a UL course. You will be able to place it into your AOS, as they will not duplicate.

Make sure to have at least 4 UL courses for your AOS, the other two can be identical courses with a different number either UL/LL and you will get credit for it.

You are in the safe, if you don't believe me, it's easy to get them to pre-approve by placing it into your "to do list for evaluation purposes", it'll pop up in the right spots - Thank goodness for overlapping courses!

How do you do this? it's easy to get them to pre-approve by placing it into your "to do list for evaluation purposes"

I need to do this as well. Also what happens when you don't agree with their evaluation? I have courses coming in one way for one Eval degree and another way for another eval in the same category of study. Makes no sense.

First, I don't think it's easy to get pre-approval.  But that's it's own issue.

You'd need to give an example of what got evaluated and how - list the courses and the 2 different degrees.  We can tell you what's going on.

You can appeal their decision, but it's easier if you tell us what's going on so that we can help guide you.

I’m thinking of switching from TESU RN-BSN to BALS-CIS or BSIT. I have requested an evaluation. The auto generated ones took away req courses that fulfilled GE reqs in my official BSN eval. Once I get them, I’ll be back.

Backstory: If you are wondering why... cost and time. When I began this journey, I was not eligible for WGU because I wasn’t working in a hospital clinically, I was working in IT as a Clinical Analyst Consultant. I live in NJ so of the Big 3, TESU made sense. 5 years later and no real progress until last year, as I am almost done with GE courses.  I am leaning to just getting any degree which is req to secure permanent Analyst work now. The BSN is still so far away and I have to take all 9 courses at TESU the long slow way. With either the BALS or BSIT, I can keep plugging away with alternative credits.

That’s pretty much my story.

did saylor get its MIS approved by ace again? last i checked it expired

RE: TESU CIS electives..management info systems - dfrecore - 04-20-2020

You need to decide on your actual degree before we can help. It's hard to tell someone who doesn't know what they want how to get it. You're asking for a path to nowhere.

RE: TESU CIS electives..management info systems - cwendy111 - 04-20-2020

"Path to nowhere"? Well that wasn't very nice. People on this forum present questions like "what should I do" all the time. I already said once I get both evaluations, I'll be back. You certainly didn't have to be so mean about it.

I will start a new thread when I get both evals back as I am now way of topic here. If my lowly problems are beneath you, feel free to ignore me
