Communications Degree Requirments - natshar - 10-04-2018

I already have or know how to earn all my gen eds, lower level communications classes and electives. I just wanted to know if anyone knew what requirements worked for the following:
  • Communication Theory
  • Mass Communications I
  • Mass Communications II
  • UL Communications credits. I already know about study.com and TECEP/TESU. Anything else I should know of?

I haven't been able to find these inexpensively.

You might be able to do a PLA for them.

Communication Theory
These are online courses that satisfied this requirement, as per the last time I checked with TESU. Great option if you have CA residency.

Introduction to Communication Theory
Cosumnes River College
http://dcs.losrios.edu/dcs_coursedetails...476&s=COMM

Introduction to Communication Theory
Diablo Valley College
https://www.dvc.edu/communication/schedules/search.html (select 2018FA for the term and select COMM-180 from the course drop down menu)

If you are not a CA resident, I believe New Mexico Community College offers Com Theory at $879. I'm not sure how many colleges are part of their system, so it would be best to do some extra googling. You can get started here: https://banner.cnm.edu/StudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/classSearch/classSearch (select COMM - Communications for subject.) You will have to check with TESU to see if it will satisfy the requirement.

Keep in mind that community colleges courses are lower level.

Mass Communications 1
Not sure what will satisfy this anymore. Could check with CSU if they will still offer the Mass Communications CBE (COM320EX).

Mass Communications 2
Mass Communication and Society CBE (COM325EX) at $250

This is an UL course. More info here: https://csuglobal.edu/undergraduate/alternative-credit-options/competency-based-exam-cbe

UL Com Courses
CSU-Global's Competency Based Exams (CBE) are great; $250 each. Double check everything with TESU, just to be sure.
Not sure if Saylor's Corporate Communication is still UL, but it's worth it to check.

Too bad TESU dosent accept Shmoop cause media literacy transferred as that, mass comm I

RE: Communications Degree Requirments - jsh1138 - 11-24-2018

yeah i think that's what mine was, but i'll ask to be sure

TESU also won’t accept the CSU global Mass Communications and society CBE for mass communications II anymore, either. They told me no more waivers will be issued for that one.
